Congrats! That's pretty good!I thought I was going to have a dismal hatch. But its turning out better than expected!
I incubated in both of my Brinsea 20's, set them both full at the same time. 42 lavender orpington eggs. Only pulled 3 clears, and 1 early blood spot. 38 were transferred to the hatcher. But when I transferred them, one Brinsea was noticeably behind, developmentally. Apparently the temp is a bit lower in that one.
I've lost a few, a couple zipped and couldn't push out, and one little hatcher got between eggs, on his back, and couldn't flip and died. But I'm happy to report 25 have hatched and are fine, and still have a few more pips, internal and external.
I also have had a few with big bellies, and slightly unhealed navels. A couple pencil eraser sized navels too. I think humidity was too high, even incubating with no water. I guess I will have to try sanding or washing these eggs before incubating any more.
Congrats! That's pretty good!
Lol. I know. The Hovabator holds temps so well I did one hatch at the normal temp and had my hatch end of day 20-21 right on time. I didn't like it as much. Ran the others at 100 ish and hatched day 19/20. I much prefer that day earlier...lol They've always been happy and healthy! LolIf nothing else, it has shown me that the 2 incubators are a little different! I need to increase the temp on the digital one. Its already set at 100.9 with a fan! But actually, those are the ones that are hatching on day 21. The others hatched early, so maybe I should turn the other one down. Although I do like early hatchers. LOL
Hi. I have a turkey egg that is currently 4 days late from hatch date. It externally pipped yesterday, and has begun zipping about two hours ago (almost 3). Is it normal for it to be taking so long to zip? My others turkeys usually don't take that long (1-1.5 hours at most). I just don't know whether or not if I should help it by taking some shell off. How long should I wait
