Hands on hatching and help

Well my last Welsh Harlequin hatched yesterday. She has smelly yellow goo all over her and seemed weak. But today seems much better and is running around and eating and drinking. She is our only girl out of 4 lol. Can't wait till I can sex my calls and east indie. Thanks for all the help guys!

they must all get the goo then? I've only had two survive. Also have to move my other two outside they've killed one of my quail and plucked the others bald. Never knew ducks were like that!!

I don't think they all get goo. Probably bacteria got into the egg I'm thinking. My other 3 hatched out with no goo or odor. I've not had quail before but i do know ducklings like to nibble everything, sometimes overzealously.

The being able to tell what they are at hatch is almost a double edged sword, huh. glad to hear the last one is up and at em. Congrats!

Ahh how are the ducklings doing? I've separated them now and all seem much happier! Everyday is a new learning experience with these birds :)

Ok, I swear I just heard one of these young silkies attempt to crow! I am certain one if not both of the 7 week old blues are males. The two oldest, 9 week olds I am hoping are girls. If it was trying to crow it's got something stuck in it's throat...lol
