Hands on hatching and help

I made a safety hole to see and there's no liquid in there the chick is still absorbing so going to wait until it's fully absorbed. Lost one in the night due to the liquid I must have humidity issues
If it's just a solitary egg, or eggs from one breed/one hen, then it doesn't point to youhaving a humidity issue it points to that egg specifically either being thicker shelled/less porous, or the breed/hens eggs of those eggs being harder to loose moisture. Sometimes people find certain breeds do better hatched alone so they can tweak humidity. In your case you are already running dry right? So it's a harder situation.

This is a polish egg when I was making the safety hole it was really hard to get into I've never had a problem like this before. Another one that died had its intestines wrapped around its leg this one seems to be doing good I'm removing tiny bits of shell every couple of hours until I see blood then I quickly put it back. I hope it survives

How is it doing?

Took me forever to find this thread again! I hope BYC has their update done. I've been lost for days, lol. In the meantime, I've had a few hatches with mediocre results. I can't seem to hatch poults to save my life! Out of 4 dozen eggs I've got 2 live poults. I've lost another 6 so hatched 8 total. They are forming and just not hatching. When I open them up they are drawn down to 1/2 or 2/3 of the egg. I had one pip yesterday and it was oozing liquid and bubbling. It drowned and I don't know why. I have been incubating at 50% humidity and then 65% at lockdown. It is doing well for chicks, but not for the poults. I have spoken to a few people that said they only use broodys for hatching poults because they are more difficult. I would just like to figure out the problem! Temp? Humidity? or I'm just a poult killer! :barnie I gave in and ordered a Brinsea Cabinet. I'm just done with these styrofoam bators! On a happy note, I purchased a flock of Lavender Cuckoo Orpingtons and just love them!

Hi! I had a Bantam give up an three eggs this morning. I already had to assist one and I have another I poked a pin hole in because she stopped making noise around 5. Shes peeping loudly now but not making any progress. Im worried about the humidity because I just have a heat lamp set up. When do I start think about helping her? First time doing this. The one I helped this morning was shrink wrapped? pretty good.

How many days do yall usually leave shipped eggs unturned in the bator?
Depends on how the air cells look.

Honestly, I'd lower the humidity and see if that helps.

24 hours after pip before I help and only assist as far as I can before running into veining. Vaseline lightly applied to exposed membrane or coconut oil will help keep membranes from drying out.

Thank you. Unfortunately I had to leave for a little bit and kids apparently didnt check temp. Somehow it jumped to 118 and the baby was gone. Feeling pretty crappy right now. I have ducklings hatching right now and more this weekend so at least I'm better prepared now.
