Hands on hatching and help

Be careful with the cracked one, it looks like an exploder... if it stinks awful bad, slide it into a baggie right from under her...

I would leave the pipped one and let her do her thing... the cool one, I would candle and check for life signs... if none, then dispose of it...

So sweet! I can tell he's gonna be spoiled!
Did we ask what breed? Pekin?
He it's spoiled rotten, has full speed waddles down, eats drinks and poops, likes to chase the dog, oh and did I mention attitude? He's a hoot. Thanks so much for all your help. :wee

So, my Call ducks are starting to hatch, and I am a bit nervous. Will they need to be assisted? Will they make it out on their own? They are just trying to Internally pip. I got them from a local breeder :). Let me know what you think.

Mine have all been assisted hatches. I assist using the method in the article that's in my signature. I tend to start helping Calls a little earlier than I help other birds (there's a note on that in the article too).

Good luck, I hope you have a great hatch :fl

Are calls ever able to hatch on their own? Never tried to hatch them yet!

None of mine have made it out on their own; all of them that started zipping cut off their own air supply and suffocated. That doesn't mean it never happens, though. @Ravynscroft would be the one to ask about that, she hatches tons of them :)
