Hands on hatching and help

I am assisting with a hatch is anyone online? I'm anxious about this I already assisted one and it survived when I realized the three ducklings that pipped three days early had membranes totally dried out. The first pipper was dead already. The second would have died shortly if I hadn't helped I was able to get it out quite quickly as there was no blood vessles or yolk. He is now happy, fluffy and strong. The third pipper had only a tiny hole, then it had a larger pip. 20 hrs after the external pip it was no longer showing signs of life. I decided to risk assisting as no others have pipped yet so opening the bator was less risky. I had a humidity problem but I think i have resolved it so I hope the last seven eggs will do better when they pip. Anyway I have removed the shell that was really hard and dry the inner membrane was hard, I have used a little coconut oil to keep it moist and am re-moistening every two hours. The membrane is intact and has a few full blood vessles. The egg has been open for 4-6 hours and the blood vessels are still there. He is peeping very loud.

I would really appreciate help with this I am really worried I want this one to survive for its lonely sibling so badly after losing the other one over night.

If the blood vessels are still strong, pretty much all you can do is make sure the bill is clear, and keep the membrane moist. And wait...
:hugs

(congrats on the others!)

No blood vessles left at all. I got him almost out with no bleeding at all but a very tiny bit of yolk is still in the bottom of the shell. I put him back in the bator with his bum still in the shell will check him in an hour. God I hope he survives :(

:thumbsup Hoping he's ok :fl
He was going nuts in the bator trying to crawl out of his shell so he is now in the shell on a hot water bottle under my dressing gown. No sleep for me tonight. He is sleeping I am too scared to even look if he has any yolk left. I know where his umbilical is looks a little swollen or bulgy compared to the other duck. I'm so scared he will stop breathing :(

Please I don't know what I'm looking for. Maybe what is down below is just goo not yolk, when I candled at lockdown I know that some eggs had some clear area at the bottom still so I expected some gooey hatches. I cannot tell if he is ready to take out. I'm sitting here holding him in the shell at 4 am. I just want to put him in the heat pad cave so I can sleep I am exhausted I just need to know if it is yolk or goo or what but I do not know what to look for and I do not want to hurt him or open the bator again I did it too many times and the other eggs will pip tonight I expect. PLEASE someone tell me what to look for down below:hit:hit:hit

I actually had my last baby in my first hatch die yesterday and I believe if I wouldn't have been so into this "lockdown" theory and not helping he would have lived. He made a pip on the bottom (out of view) of the egg and I didn't see. I got home from work and checked, saw the pip, no movement and started pulling shell away. He died because I wasn't helping and I know it. He only had a small amount of yolk left to absorb. I could at least help him get oxygen and left him to do the rest. But, not seeing that bc of not opening the incubator hurt my feelings. I think next time I'm going to check..and do what I have to do to bring the 'bator back to the range it needs to be in quickly.

He really wants out of this egg, struggling and peeping. I wish I knew what was best, I see goo in the bottom I have no idea what it actually is :(

If you can shine a light down his belly into the bottom of the egg, you should be able to see whether there is any yolk or not.
I understand your exhaustion. If you want to put him in some type of tall plastic container that can't tip over, and put it in the cave, he should be fine. Line the bottom with a soft rag (t-shirt, etc), just in case he makes his way out of the shell. Just don't want it dragging around.
