safety holes should be made 18-24 hours after the chick has internally pipped if there is no progress. After 24 hours, the chick is at risk of suffocating, from what others have said, 30+ hours with no external pip and no safety hole is often fatal. At that point the chick likely won't survive without assistance, if it is still alive.
You'll have to keep an eye on this one because of the candle wax, it may make it harder for him to hatch. If baby is able to, once he begins to zip, you *may* have to help by removing any wax in the way. But take it step by step! Hopefully this little one will make it!

My little grey chick...it's not getting better. I'm trying to be vigilant about getting it water, and vitamins a few times a day - but it actually seems worse.
It immediately falls to its right side. If I lay it on its left, it flips to its right. It just spins in circles on its side.
I think when I'm holding it, it's legs tremble. I took a video, but it too big to share here.

I had a little pekin chick like this a little while back, unfortunately I don’t have good new for you… it started off with stuff like this until he had a massive out break of spasms… 3 months later he was constantly sick and twitching. Turns out he had a tumour growing on his neck and we had to put him down… I wish you the best with your lil guy!!

How do I know when I can assist further? I think my chicks got shrink wrapped, they had made external pips over 24 hours ago but nothing further so I opened a little over the air cell and noticed they seem shrink wrapped. I probably let the humidity drop too much opening it to take out.

There were 3 eggs like this, one after I opened it a little he started to push and got himself out not long later, the other one bled slightly, just a drop of blood and he seems fine. This one I think I’m seeing active veins here so should leave him be awhile? I’m just not sure how long to wait.

Wait until veins have receded. They should push out of the shell once ready, dont rush them

can you see any yolk left? If there is yolk left/a lot of blood, then put the egg shell upright, and into a cup (her half of the egg shell standing point end down in the cup, so she is sitting in it as though it is a bowl). You can nestle her with some paper towels supporting around the shell to make sure it stands up in the cup.
This will discourage her from trying to get out, until yolk is absorbed. If you dont see any yolk left OR signs that she is absorbing (chewing motions with the beak, or yawning) then leave her be as she is and she will come out.

How do the veins look now ? Have they gone down more

Thank you for the replies, I did eventually have to do a full assist but gave her lots of time to make sure everything was absorbed. Both little ones are out and running around now.
