Happy Hen Chicken Rescue!

Many people give chickens 0 respect.. It is so sad.

I have way too much experience with that. I've learned to keep my mouth shut about chickens to avoid having to hear all the biased and incorrect comments about chickens from people who have never seen a chicken. Whenever I tell people I have hens, they always say in the most eager tone, "So, are you going to eat your chickens once they stop laying eggs?"

Every time I tell people I have chickens they say "You should eat them" And I say "First of all, I am a vegan. And second of all, I have a chicken rescue and am highly against those who think of chickens as 'just food and egg laying machines'." It really drives me crazy. And once someone asked me what my favorite kind of animal was, and I told them it is probably chickens. She broke out laughing, (we were sitting at a table) so I just got up and walked away.

I re-rescued another chicken. Long atory short, she is my baby, my profile is name after her. But now I think Peep has impacted crop .

Oh and I was talking with people. And I was like yay I own chickens. And they said chickens are worthless animals that should only be used for meat/eggs. All I could do is say that they would never understand and walk away. :

Such is the life of a chicken keeper... Where did all those stereotypes of stupid and repelling chickens come from anyways?

I think people try to make themselves believe that chickens, and other farm animals, are stupid, so it is easier for them to eat them. Because a lot of people think it is okay to eat an animal as long as it is stupid. Which personally, I believe that no animal is stupid, and that it is not okay to eat them at all. I know you probably eat meat, but you can correct me if I am wrong, but I think many meat eaters try to look at animals such as chickens in that way.

Maybe some people do that. I eat meat and I don't care if the animal is the smartest thing on earth or the dumbest thing on earth.
