Nothing major. Little stuff (ignorant comments) occasionally, but then
1-people from a lot of religious groups get those from narrow minded bigots
2-I'm not terribly in-your-face or easy to offend.
This does not mean I *hide* my beliefs or am afraid of people finding out. I just feel like it's nobody else's business and I rarely see an occasion where discussing my personal beliefs is appropriate to the situation. Just like most people who go to Christian churches don't talk about their church or their pastor or their beliefs either. Really, most Christians don't...it's just the few real vocal ones that make it seem like we're inundated sometimes.
I don't expect people to give me grief or cause me problems. I have known too many people of a lot of different religious affiliations who had a chip on their shoulder and really 'overshared' and just dared someone to comment or discriminate. That would be the opposite of me.
I just don't CARE what other people think.
There ARE people who have been horribly and (at least in the US) illegally discriminated against. Soldiers who died in combat whose families had to fight to get a pentacle or other pagan symbol on their headstones. People who have been fired. People who have lost custody of their children. I am aware that happens and it is NOT their fault and they SHOULD fight it. I'm not saying those kinds of people were the 'chip on the shoulder' kind...not at all.
My brother knows but my parents don't. They are devout Christians. It would serve no purpose for them to worry, fret and agonize that their child is going to burn in hell. So, since it would gain nothing to tell them, I don't.
I think that you have a good attitude! I am in the southeast and people talk about their religion all the time. Sometimes it is nice that religion, no matter what the kind, so prevades the air here but at other times it can be a bit annoying. I have had snide things said to me from close friends for being Catholic, I can't imagine what their response would be if I told them that I was exploring paganism.
