Hard black area on rooster

Hi, anyone seen this before or know what it is, we put warm water on yesterday to try and loosen feather follicles but didn’t seem to help much.
Any ideas or suggestions welcome.
Rooster is otherwise acting normally eating, drinking etc

It's a scab, he was being picked. Where is this on him?

It’s sort of on the left side of his back. He’s been kept seperate as he’s a baby so I’m not sure it’s from pecking. It’s like he has a lump on his back close to where this is too.
