I have a small flock of assorted brown egg layers. I have noticed over the last few months that the darker eggs peel perfectly and the light ones are a mess. Wondering if it’s just a crazy coincidence or there is some reason behind this madness.
Adding a picture just cause she is cute!

I've only noticed that the age of the egg seems to help with peeling. Very fresh eggs peel terribly. I've got all colors (light tan, white, dark brown, blue, green) and I've never noticed a difference in peeling from color type. I do notice my brown layers currently lay a very thick shell, so shell quality can make a difference.

One tip I learned with fresh eggs is to put in a pinch of baking soda or salt to help the egg shells peel better. It does seem to help me. Otherwise, I push some fresh eggs to the back of the fridge to get a week or two old before boiling.

My thoughts.
