hard decision HELP! (mouse)

Maybe this will help... put it in an enclosed container with some dry ice - the resultant CO2 will kill the mouse quickly and cheaply.

My local grocery store sells dry ice, as do all welding supply companies, and its relatively cheap. This is a scientifically approved method of euthanasia which can be done easily by anyone.

I'm sorry your friend is having to go through this.

totally agree with previous posters.
A CHILD SHOULD NOT DO THIS please if you can offer take the mouse then ask another adult to put it out of its misery as soon as possible. reasure the child that the mouse wont suffer and you will make sure it gets a proper buriel.

Can you or your parents lend her the money to bring it in to be put down??
Just an idea...

Call the vet and ask if they will take payment plans? Make SURE to tell them the mouse is suffering...
Exactly HOW much is the vet charging? Thats what i want to know...

Many use CO2 chambers...the compressed CO2 gas that comes in cylinders, in contrast to a dry ice chamber or ethanol chamber, is what's AVMA approved for euthanasia.

AS I SAID

NO - AN ADULT NEEDS TO BE DOING IT !!!!!!!!

It is an adults responsibility NOT A CHILDS!!!!!! - IT is cruelty to the child to ask the child to do that!!!!!!!

IF YOU cut this mouses head off or smash its head in then the body is DAMAGED and this child will always have that image in their mind!!!!!
THINK OF THE CHILD! - If you drown this mouse and dry it off when this child is away then - " oh darling poor thing just feel asleep and passed away lets have a little burial!!!"

THINK OF THIS CHILDS NEEDS NOT YOUR OWN OR THE MOUSE!!!!!!!!!! THE CHILD SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST!!!!!

The GAS idea is a good alternative to the warm water death - in the end same result cut off the air and the animal will simply fall asleep and pass away!!!!

I know her mom should be but she also can't (shes kinda afraid of mice) the only reason she has this one is because the pet store sold it to her brothers snake but it was a fancy mouse and the snake wouldn't eat it. (if that makes sense) Her dad would help but hes not home from work so he might help when he gets home. I feel like I made the mom sound bad so I want to make it very clear that she wants whats best for the mouse and her daughter but she is just not to fond of mice. thanks for the help.
P.S. She can't just hit it with a shovel, it's her PET just like a chicken or any other animal.

Sorry i dont agree with the drowning..it would be much more traumatic to see the mouse struggle for life under water .. you have to hold it under the water while it dies...
Just my opinion..
But again..like you said,...
Either way..an ADULT needs to do it....
The choice isnt ours.. *sigh*
