My brahma has a hard, ping pong ball sized mass on her abdomen. I foster discovered it 3 days ago and it was featherless. I made a small incision to see if there was hard pus or anything inside but nothing came out. Maybe I didnt go deep enough but she was in pain so I put some wound kote on it and let her heal because she has absolutely no other symptoms. She eats, drinks, plays, and plays normally. She doesnt seem like a sick chicken. Today I checked it and it has some dark scabbing from the incision, but the bottom of the lump is clear/grayish. The rest seems a little irritated. There are new feathers coming in on and around the lump and there is yellow preening oil. Without her acting sick I'm not sure theres much for me to do, but if shes in pain or theres something I can do to prevent a more serious problem, I'll do it. Not sure if anyone else has dealt with anything like this. The pictures attached show the color and the scabbing from the incision. I'm worried I didnt go deep enough but i dont want to put her through unecessary pain. I have thought of the possibility or a hernia, but not sure?
