Which is the best to use? 1/4" or 1/2"? I see that 1/2" is slightly cheaper and easier to get in 100' rolls. This would make covering an 8'x16' covered run a little easier if 1/2" would be sufficient. Open to any other suggestions as well.

1/2" works up north where any small snake that may crawl through the 1/2" openings is going to end up chicken food.
If you have baby Rattlesnakes that may crawl through...

We haven't seen any snakes around here but I'm certain they are here. We are right on the edge of the city limits with lots of open pasture around.

1/2" is easier to work with for sure, plus generally a thicker wire to boot, which makes it more secure.

What 1/4" is good for would be deterring mice, if those are a huge issue.
