Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

I did a LOT of research on incubators and settled on the NR 360 which my husband kindly bought me for Christmas. I also set my first eggs in it on Sunday (12/27) so we will need to compare notes and hatch rate... šŸ˜‚

I put 19 eggs in mine on Sunday. A dozen were Organic Happy Eggs which I don't really have high expectations from... But 7 eggs were from my RIR and BO girls. I have 2 EE roosters who are randy boys but I can't say for certain whether the eggs are fertilized or not.

As for the incubator itself, I'm happy with it so far. I used a little pouring cup that came with my clothes iron to fill the reservoir... But I like the condiment bottle idea. Might pick up one of those from the dollar store.
Same here also! Set mine on Monday!

Do you mean the store bought Happy Eggs? I’ve heard of people hatching Trader Joe eggs but I hadn’t heard of Happy Eggs. We don’t have Trader Joe’s close to where I live.

Good luck on your hatch!! I can’t wait to see everyone’s!

The brand is called 'Happy Egg Company'. You can check out their website and see if they sell eggs in your area.

Their farm is located in Rogers, Arkansas which is about 3 hours from me. I have seen posts on BYC and other forums where people all over the country have been successful in incubating and hatching out eggs from store bought Happy Egg.... And they have a pretty cool selection of birds so I figured "what the heck? Let's try it." I did try to find a package with blue or green eggs which would indicate a Speckled Legbar but no luck. There were only 8 or 9 packages left to begin with and all were brown eggs. Oh well....still worth a try.

There was also another brand from 'Vital Farms' which looked interesting. Vital Farms seems to be a collection of small farmers who sell their eggs together under one brand. I am purely speculating here, but I thought perhaps the chances are good that those eggs are likely fertilized too. However, I haven't tried them so I can't say for certain....

Huh, I didn’t realize happy eggs could come fertile. That’s the brand we buy when our chickens aren’t producing enough. I’ve never seen them any color other than brown. I’m a lot further away, though, so i probably wouldn’t have much luck if I tried to hatch any.

The blue eggs appear to be in their Heritage Breed cartons. I'm trying to find the thread I saw a while back from other posters who were able to successfully hatch eggs from Happy Egg. Haven't found it yet. When I do, I'll post a link here.

They must not have those at my grocery store. I’d love to read about some hatches with them if you do find it. I’ll consider trying some myself in the spring.

Found the thread. Here -

Before seeing this thread, I had NO IDEA that you could even hatch store bought eggs. I would have thought they would be non-fertile or that the refrigeration would have killed any viable embryo.......

To be honest, I'm not really expecting much (if anything) to come from the store bought eggs. Just thought it would be a fun experiment.... Did you ever get those plastic easter eggs as a kid with surprises inside? Yeah....this is the adult version.

I did put 7 eggs from my own girls (RIR and BO) in the incubator too....

Have you seen fertile yolks when breaking these to eat?

I haven't broken any to eat.... When I went to the store, there were only 8 or 9 packages left on the shelf. Almost all of them had broken eggs inside. So I started swapping eggs from different cartons to get a full dozen of intact eggs which means I've got a mix of eggs from different dates/batches. I suppose it is logical that if one carton is fertilized, then all are likely to be fertilized... I did check the carton and didn't doesn't SAY 'fertilized' on the carton.

Oh well, I will candle them for the first time on Sunday (Day 7) and we'll see if anything looks promising. Worst case...I'm out $5.
