Lockdown. But now I’m freaking out cause my air cells look way smaller than CluckNDoodle’s in her eggtopsy video, and wondering if my kitchen scale has been wonky. Should I reduce humidity??

Also, please feel free to tell me if I’m doing something dumb here with the egg placement or cages. Thanks.

I only traced the air cells just today for positioning because I’ve been weighing all along to gauge humidity. Can I save them before hatch??

Did you see where I pointed out the lockdown air cell size vs the hatch day mark? The air cell will draw down significantly as the chick rotates to hatch.

I don't have a clue on that cages but I'm really interested in hearing how it works out for you! Looks like there will be plenty of air flow.

You know I panicked and paused your video to post my question cause I had just poured in a bunch of water and won’t be able to go back into the house for several hours so I didn’t finish it! I thought, I wonder if she mentions that the air cell is bigger than at hatch... But panic will panic!!

I just thought the air cell wouldn’t increase once humidity was raised. Thank goodness.

Well you might not want to watch the video if you're squeamish but this is the link. I added multiple warnings to turn it off if so...excuse my uncoordinated presentation. LOL

I watched it again with my son. He was riveted. I thought it was really cool, too. I’d love to see one where there’s a live chick inside.

You know, I had watched the first time until you started opening the shell but totally missed where you pointed out at the beginning the day 17 tracing. Sorry my panic brain jumped the gun.

No worries! I'm glad you found it insightful, lol! I plan to try to record next time I assist. I wasn't so sure about doing the eggtopsy video but I felt like it would still be helpful to some so I'm glad! Also, I didn't feel rushed because there wasn't a chick in distress.

It was totally helpful and you did it in such a respectful way it made it easier to watch and learn despite the fact that the chick had passed.

So, yeah, still need you to come here and guru me. It’s quite pretty and peaceful where I live. My husband makes good food. FYI

I commend all who take the time and get super scientific by weighing their eggs to monitor humidity. Me: Place eggs in incubator, do my best to keep humidity where it needs to be ......and hope for the best.

What I hate is when a bird pips and doesn’t make it further. Come on, it’s so close and you’re gonna quit on me now!!
