Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

Not the best pics, but lots of the sells look like this "speckled" one when I candle them. Why do they look like this?

There is also a pic of the "dot" that was floating around in egg 2, it is right above my finger. But no veins seen. The pics are taken with them on the incubator light since when I tried on the flashlight it put lines in the pic....

Would opening some on Sat show anything? Would they stink?

The shells are porous, that's what gives them that speckled look. The flock may benefit from some more calcium. Free choice oyster shell is good for this. Also this is common to see with older hens no matter how much calcium they receive.

It's probably a little meat spot floating around in there. I actually had an interesting thread about meat spots in hatching eggs:

Ah thank you. They have free choice oyster shells since I feed them flock raiser. She is only 11 months old so not older. Well almost a year, April 8. Hmm not sure what else to do are the eggs a problem?

Will have to check out your thread. If I crack open some of the eggs on day 10 are they going to smell?

No, it's not really a problem as long as they don't become so thin that the shells are delicate. I've hatched plenty of porous eggs without issues :) . They're more difficult to see inside when candling though.

They won't stink unless bacteria infiltrated the egg and when that happens you can usually smell it from outside of the egg.

Do you folks use shelf liner in this incubator for hatching? Or is the floor of the newer model fine?

I don't use a liner during incubation but I usually put one in for hatch when I take the turner out. I've also done plenty of hatches without the liner so they aren't necessary in this incubator but I just think it's nice to have a little padding for them as they flop around in there after hatching. It also makes clean up a little easier.

Making a breakfast casserole tonight so debating on seeing if any of my girls eggs are 100% fertilized and then putting a couple of those eggs in the incubator to see if this batch was a fertility issue or an incubator/me issue. But then I would need to find them homes...

This egg doesn't have a blood ring, right?
