Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

Can eggs sweat? I picked up one of the eggs this morning and it did feel damp.

Is a damp egg and sweating different? Could it be because of high humidity?

Also, if I let the incubator run out of water, how low should I let the humidity go before adding water?

The eggs are slowly losing water weight throughout incubation, so technically yes, they are "sweating" but it's not something that I personally have felt when I touch the eggs other than eggs that have been refrigerated and I'm letting the come to room temperature, that's the only time it has been enough to feel with my fingertips and you should be past that at this point since they've been in the Incubator a while. Was it just the one egg or all of them?

Very porous eggs will lose weight faster than the others and that could also be responsible for the elevated humidity (as well as the obvious weather changes).

If you allow the water to dry out in the reservoir you're really experimenting to see just how low it will go. Even if it's 25% a short period of this isn't going to harm your eggs but if it stops at 40-45% then I would consider doing a "dry incubation" though I'm not fond of the term because I feel like it's important to monitor the air cell development of your eggs, period, so you can determine if you need to adjust the humidity. If you're being precise in a hatch then no two hatches would be exactly the same but as you hatch more you find your own sweet spot based on the Incubator you're using and the environment that you keep the incubator in. I hope that makes sense.
It's all trial and error but essentially you're trying to find a nice stable point to start your incubation at and then you can check the progress of the air cells in about a week to determine in you need to make any changes.

WE HAVE LIFE!!!!

Not sure if it looks super lively on camera, but when the yolk was floating to the top, I saw veining!! Praise the Lord!!!!!! So excited! This is an EEs green egg. I started shaking, XD.

Soooooo excited!!! I hope further candling at another time will reveal more development!! :ya :wee :woot :celebrate:ya

Yay! I'm sure it will! :clap

One of the eggs is porous. Actually, another egg from the same pullet. I candled it, and wondered if I saw development, but the porous shell was too hard to distinguish through. So, I grabbed another one of her eggs and saw a baby!!!

The porous eggs are always much harder to candle!

Okay, candled all the eggs tonight. Saw development in the 6 EE pullet eggs only. I have some cream colored brown eggs I didn't see anything in. It's still possible they're developing, correct?

Here's a comparison. First two are both EE eggs, 3rd is a cream brown egg.
