Harris Farms Nurture Right 360 Incubator is AMAZING!

It is officially lockdown as of 4:30pm, woot woot! 12 eggs in lockdown, 5/6 BBS orps (1 quitter) 6/8 lavender orps (1 quitter, 1 infertile) and 1 from my flock (7 infertile). Overall I'm pretty happy with 12/14 shipped eggs making it to lockdown. My next order should be here tomorrow😊 Has anyone noticed that the eggs tilt forward towards the pointy end the closer too hatch you get? I was looking at pics from last hatch and it was the same. I suppose it's the air cell pulling the egg up 🤷 Anyway, I thought it was neat, well I'll keep y'all posted ❤️

That's fantastic for shipped eggs so far! I hope you have a great hatch!

They rotate in the egg to get in position for hatch! :jumpy :jumpy :jumpy

WOOHOO! So exciting! I have lavender orps in my incubator as well! :) I have 1 mottled lavender, 2 splash Lavender, and 1 lavender. Your #'s are GREAT for shipped eggs! This is my worst one already for shipped and I am only on day 12........ I have 4/7 (but 1 was clear, 1 was cracked but I tried to put wax on it and it started but then quit which I figured, then 1 other one quit.... so going by that they say NOT to count clears for your % so guess kind of 4/6 but does the cracked one count???? hmmmm either way I am still happy.

What eggs are you getting tomorrow?

I have to wait for these ones to hatch then was going to set right away and realized I would be away for hatch so need to hold off a week. :( But going to be setting BBS Ameraucana and some OE..... Possibly some more but not sure if I will get my shipped ones then or if I will hold off and do the shipped ones after these next ones. LOL

Thank you! I'm pretty impressed myself, first time with shipped eggs, but they were both packaged really well! I love ameraucanas, with their beards and muffs, but they just don't fit into my plans. My next batch is coming from Colt, more BBS orps and chocolate orps. I have a black cockerel, and 1 black and 1 blue hen. My plan is to keep a chocolate cockerel, chocolate pullet, splash pullet, and lavender pullet. That way next year I can breed BBS, and chocolate, mauve, black split to lavender. A nice variety 😊 I'll be selling my blrw and blue favaucana for a little extra room. 🤞everything works out as planned

Another round of bad weather is due to hit this evening and I just want to be prepared if the power goes out. Today is hatch day (I'm currently at work) as of last night I had 7 internal pips. What can I do if the power goes out to keep humidity up? Sponge with hot water? Any and all ideas are appreciated!

Actually, as odd as it sounds, you're more likely to have the humidity get too high in a storm when the power goes out.
Think of it like this, we're adding water to the incubator because the fan and heating element make for a dryer environment inside of the incubator. Most of us also have air conditioning running in the house that will also dry out the ambient environment in a room. When the power goes out, none of those things are happening and if it's raining outside of top of it, the humidity will go up in your home.
You will actually see a spike in humidity as the chicks start hatching too.

Long story short, it's very unlikely that you will need to worry about humidity and for short periods, the elevated humidity won't be a concern either.

Fingers are crossed for an uneventful storm!

Hmmm hopefully hatching chicks will keep it up if it goes out. But you can try a sponge too.

That made a lot of sense, thank you!
