I’d love a whole herd of them but unfortunately I don’t have the room or can afford to keep another one at livery. I hope Mr Melvin Andrews finds a good home :fl

This one broke my heart :hit Through crowd funding she has got the treatment she needed from a vet that came over from the US.

Oh, what would make anyone want to do something like that to a helpless baby animal? Very disturbing. I'm glad she is getting good care.

That's were I went to school! They have the veterinarian program there and do all sorts of research, so Cinders is getting cutting edge treatment. :) My dad took one of our horses there once, forget what for. It's only about an hour and a half away from me.

I know it’s just terrible for someone to do that :( I’m afraid at the moment there is an epidemic of dumped/neglected horses and ponies.

Wow @Wishing4Wings i didn’t realise those vets that came over were so close to you!

@rebrascora Another flag Barbara!

Think me and H must have the plague or something because no one wanted to come with us again! Unfortunately Bran is lame again so me and H went on our own. I said if he was naughty when we first set off I was going round the little block but if he was good I was going round the village. So he was good so we headed off up the village all calm & quiet but as soon as we turned on to the lane that he knows is home he totally lost the plot! Screaming at some cows in the distance that he obviously thought were other horses! Think he needs glasses! Jig jogging sideways, throwing his head and all in all bouncing all over the place! Then to top it off half way down this lane is a horse field with 3 in that started screaming back at him and when we got level with them they were charging up and down behind the hedge at us. I was glad to get back in the yard in one piece. He’d got himself in a right old sweaty state then decided he didn’t like water anymore when I washed him off! His head had totally gone!
So half good and half interesting ride to say the least!

Hope all is well with yours and that you have got out riding too :fl

Hi Kim

I am so pleased that you are flying all those flags. Really, really well done you! Especially with those bumper delivery rounds you have had recently. I don't know how you are managing it! I can just envisage the sort of ride you had coming home. It has happened to me so often. There are times when I have had to back up towards home, because every time we turned to face home they were off. My horses are very good at reining back but they can't do it at the canter or gallop or buck for that matter, so it works quite well and if they get sick of going backwards, then we try going forwards at a sensible speed but if they misbehave we go backwards again.
Sadly I am letting the side down here as regards riding. I'm having problems with my back, hips, knees and ankles seizing up..... I'm guessing it is menopause related and I'm crippled just sitting in the carriage for an hour let alone riding. My right knee particularly is giving me grief and a bit swollen but I think that may be an old skiing injury or possibly a kick I got from Cora many years ago that damaged the cruciate ligament. Anyway, I walked out with Rebel in hand on Thursday and then when we got back to the yard I put his bridle on and climbed on bareback and just did 15-20 mins of some very low level schooling/playing in the yard with the other horses.... turns on the hind and forequarters, reining back and side passing..... I was obviously inspired by my sister's performance the other day!! Reb is really light both in the mouth and to leg aids so he is very manoeuvrable when you can get him to focus. We can do a square where I back him up a few strides, side pass him left, walk him forward and then side pass him right. It is little exercises like this which improve/maintain flexibility and focus and I aim to improve our precision. Sometimes he likes to pre-empt me and do stuff before I ask him, so I have to keep my wits about me. It was nice to work in a place where he was relaxed though and just keep it very quiet and low key and required minimal effort and no anxiety on my part.
Pleased to report that MeMe seems to be sound now the poultice boot is off. I just need to get some front shoes on her now and hopefully I will manage to get her out too. I elected not to pack her hoof with anything..... time will tell if that is the right course of action, but I have had so much on my plate recently that I had to make life a little easier. I let them down onto the bankside for some grass at 11am this morning and when I went up at 1pm to get them in, they were already in the stable sleeping with obvious full bellies, so they had brought themselves in. I trimmed Cora's hooves and then had a snuggle with MeMe who was down in the yard having a snooze.
Yesterday I did some ground work and jumping schooling with Zak on a long line because my Canadian friend, Steph wanted to do some jumping work on Archie to improve her position after she came off the other day and it was easier for me to be on the ground, putting jumps up etc than having to get off and on a horse and as I said I'm sooo stiff. Poor Zak was not impressed at having to jump, even though he is quite capable and makes a really nice shape, but at least he wasn't having to carry my dead weight over them as well.
We are off to Redcar tomorrow to do a beach drive with the driving club. I think it will be the first time he has been to the beach, but pretty sure he will enjoy it. Ian got some brand new space saver wheels and tyres from the scrap yard for a tenner to go on the newly repaired exercise cart so that we don't sink into the sand too deep like we would with the tradition cart wheels that are normally fitted. Hopefully we will have a pleasant but uneventful drive this time!!.... and maybe fish&chips afterwards :ya

Hope you have a relaxing day tomorrow and perhaps you will post another flag tomorrow night!

Oh.. bad boy! He's not tired enough to behave well.
Maybe Santa will bring you a hot walker this year... give that boy a work out!

Hi Barbara!

How did it go Sunday at Redcar? Was the beach good? I too have never taken H to the beach, a few from the yard went last year and had a great time. I’m not sure how H would be as the only time in the last 14 years that he’s been in the wagon was to the vets when he had choke!
I’m more than sure he would go in but how he would travel and what he’d be like when we got there god only knows :idunno Plus I’m sure they don’t have mounting blocks on the beach!

Hope you are feeling a bit better on the seizing up front :hugs I get it though and I’m dreading that stage in my life so before hand I might get myself fully neutered!!!
Have you been to the quack’s? Maybe they could help you with something to ease the symptoms.

Good to hear MeMe is doing ok and that you got a sit on Reb, no more flags here as yet. Trying to catch up on office work and the accountant is on my back for getting the VAT return done! I hate doing the cash book and more often than not the “computer says no”

Hope you are enjoying the good weather again  Beautiful down here this morning!
