Well, Keeper & Tally sure are enjoying this beautiful weather It’s such a hard life sunning yourself!

I’m thinking H & Bran might be a little full this morning when I go down! Moved them on to the rested grass at T time yesterday and they were so happy Glad I put thin turn out rugs on though as it rained last night which I wasn’t expecting!!

Got a

to fly for today, nice steady hack just round the village on H with his girlfriend Abbie. Had to get him in for an hour or so before we went though because as I suspected he & Bran were pigged out! They both have very good gut movement this evening! Neither wanted any T of any kind so I’m going to have to find another way to get the cortaflex & buteless in to him for his joints.

As the weather has been nice earlier this week I bit the bullet & got Malcolm an outdoor run for the garden. Now just need the sun & warmth to return! All handmade by the tortoise shop, good weight to it and treated. Just hope the dogs don’t pay him too much attention whilst he’s in there or that he doesn’t dig out!

Flying a

for this morning. Had a good 45 minutes in the arena on Lottie. Had a practice of the dressage again and a practice for the show. As we are only doing the walk & trot ridden class we kept the show short & simple. Should be able to manage that and hopefully not go all over the place! Going to have a go at an in hand class too with her. Harry had another day off today as I think we must smell again as no one wanted to hack out with us
Maybe we will get a victim someone for tomorrow

Malcolm had his first taste of real sun on his shell this afternoon Dogs were pretty good and only had to be warned a couple of times to “leave it!” Then Malc got an audience!

Ugh! Still no one to come out with me on H Going to have to ride him in the arena at this rate so he won’t be a happy bunny! But I have a

to fly for Lottie in the arena this afternoon. Another practice session for dressage/show weekend. Then we gave her a bath to start trying to get those feathers clean on her legs. Used “dirty beastie” shampoo and it worked a treat Much better than they were and after a couple more do’s they should be lovely. Not sure the same will be said about me!

Finally got someone to come out with me on Harry this afternoon so I can fly a

for him. Nice hack round the village with no incident’s to report. As much as I’m enjoying riding Lottie getting back on Harry is such a nice feeling! Like a comfy pair of slippers!

Poor old Bran has got conjunctivitis Swollen, runny & generally manky for the poor lad. Becky had vet out just to make sure so drops to put in twice a day. Fingers crossed Harry doesn’t catch it but as it’s contagious I’m thinking he might but touch wood nothing for now.

Harry was impressed with Bran’s fly mask and he needed to be checked out

Got a

to fly for a hack out on Harry yesterday with his girlfriend Abbie. We went on a different route on a proper bridle path. On the route there are 2 gates that horses should be able to walk over the middle of. Like this ~

The first one is just like the above and we got over that ok although he did jump it which was a little hair raising as it is gravel at either side & a little slippery! But we carried on down the track to the next. Which many years ago was just the same as above. But oh no they have changed the second one both with where it is and what type of gate it is The new gate is now on top of a river flood bank, enclosed/dark with hedge at either side. The gate is half the size/width of the one above. Looks more like just a triangle in the middle! There is not much that Harry won’t do or go past but he wasn’t having any of it yesterday! His heart was pounding and he got reverse gear down the flood bank Walked back up and he got his handbrake on as he stood absolutely petrified of this gate. That was it then, he lost the plot and was going home. Really couldn’t see the point in having an argument with him on a steep flood bank with drop off’s at either side hidden under the foliage. Plus we would need to one back over it on the way back when we’d done the loop. So rather disappointedly we had to turn back for home where he decided he was going to be a beast all the way. I’m sure my arms are 6 inch longer as he was snatching the bit all the way home. Got back over the other one but he did look at it but that one is bigger and in the open so I’m thinking the dark & enclosed area on the flood bank was the off putting part for him. But we shall try again........ maybe with a couple more horses so I can tuck him in between them, then he can (fingers crossed) follow one over but have another behind pushing him along........

Got a

to fly for a ride on Lottie this morning. Went in the school first for half an hour practice then we had a walk round the little block. So glad Lottie is good traffic as we had an ambulance come flying past us with it’s lights on. So glad it didn’t have it’s sirens blaring! We’d just got round a blind corner and I could hear a vehicle coming fast from behind and thought “ that’s not slowing down” with that it was right behind us and it quickly had to get to the other side of the road. All very quick and thank goodness Lottie didn’t bat an eye lid! Got a hack planned for tomorrow morning (weather permitting) with my friends daughter who’s coming over to borrow Saffy. So Harry will be back in action after his little blip the other day with the gate.
