Harvey the Great is Dying. . .

Pics
I think Harvey is sneaking food behind your back.
;)

He actually doesn't look bad at all drinking above.
I still have hope for Harvey. I go out and sit in a chair and watch all the chickens for a couple hours out of the day. I haven't seen him eat, but maybe he does when my back is turned. I hope so! I got some Corid and put it in his water and locked him in the brooder. I'll stick some food in there with him as well. Maybe it will help, I don't know.

You have given me something to treat Harvey for, that is the good news. The bad news is that TSC (or anywhere else) has any antibiotics, ever. California (if you don't live here, DON'T Come here) has restricted the use and sale of antibiotics for all livestock. You can only get it with a Rx from a Vet, which I don't have and can't get. I even went to Petco thinking I could get fish tetracycline, but that is included in the new laws and they don't carry that either. Damn! I got some Corid and locked Harvey up in the empty brooder with it in his water, maybe that will help. https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/ahfss/aus/docs/Antimicrobial_Availability_Vet.pdf

What about human antibiotics? Don't you have a sinus infection!

Corid will only help if he has coccidiosis. I don't think, at this age, he has that.

Have you tried live food? Some live mealworms, earthworms, or crickets might catch his interest. I think you can even dust them with vitamins or soak them briefly with NutriDrench before giving them to him.
No, I haven't tried live food. I have over 40 chickens and to get anything like that past them would be very difficult! It's a good idea, now that I have him isolated I'll try to dig some up and see if he wants them. Thanks!

No, fortunately (or unfortunately) I am never sick and have no antibiotics in the house for humans. I always thought good health was a good thing, but you are changing my perspective on that! (joking) I have only Medicare for Health Insurance, so I'm not going to the Dr. until I have to. . . .

No problem. Rather than trying to hunt some, I find it easier to just go into a bait shop (or a pet store) and buy some of the live crickets or mealworms they have packaged for sale as reptile food.

Please check your p m. I sent you important info! @Peppercorngal

I don't really know anything about it. Is there a certain age that chickens get coccidiosis as opposed to just being a disease that is picked up? What age. I'm trying to do anything that may help not knowing what is wrong.

Well, I don't have any great knowledge or wisdom to offer you or Harvey the Great, but it has certainly been my experience that God hears and answers prayer, so that's what I am doing: asking God to heal the old boy of whatever ails him and get him to eating, strutting, crowing and taking care of his flock again, and bringing you joy! Peace to you.
