I hate to be a Debbie Downer but I don't think Harvey's going to make it. Davis is where you can send his body to once he passes to get a definitive answer of why he was so sick. It only costs 20 or 25 dollars.

I have been looking into sending Harvey's body to Davis, but you have to tell them what tests you want them to run. I have no idea! Also the chicken must be sent by Fed-Ex or another "overnight" shipping company. I looked into Fed-Ex and for a 12"x9"x9" box weighing 5 lbs it would cost $42.34. Davis wants $20. Why does everything have to cost so much?

I think the kindest thing would be to put him down at this point to be honest. I'm sorry he's doing so poorly.

Yes, you are probably correct in this. My husband is totally against doing that. Maybe in another day he'll change his mind. . . .

If Harvey doesn't start getting nutrition today...very soon..a vet will not even be able to save him.

We can't afford vets and testing and Davis and all that right now. We spent all our "extra" money trying to save Gizmo without success. We are financially drained right now. His prognosis is obviously death. I'm trying to tell myself that he is just a chicken, and I've only had him for a little over a year. Yeah, he's just a chicken, just a chicken -
a chicken I raised from a chick that was supposed to be a hen named Pearl.

You have given Harvey a good life. I learned with our 2 older dogs a couple years ago that sometimes the last act of kindness is to not allow them to suffer anymore. It's so very hard, I know, but I do believe that.

Unfortunately I had a rooster with like symptoms, roost when could otherwise slept on the ground. When he stared drooling I took him to the vet and he couldn't figure out what was wrong, gave him antibiotics but he eventually passed away, broke my heart. A couple of years later I had a sick rooster that I knew wasn't going to make it so I wanted him put out of his misery and vets wanted over $100 to put him to sleep. I finally called the local Human Society and they did it for $35 and I brought him home and buried him.
