Harvey the Great is Dying. . .

I was thinking, could it be an impacted(?) crop?
I don’t know that much about chicken (yet) and don’t know if that can happen with all kind of chickens/roosters?
Not sure if anyone wrote about this earlier.
I mean, can there be something stuck in his crop so he can’t/won’t eat anything?
I don’t know, was just thinking, because i also want him to get better:fl:hugs

That was discussed and ruled out earlier. But, yes, chickens of any size, age, breed, or temperament can get what's called an impacted crop.
I'm sure the OP will appreciate your thoughtfulness and wishes for her big fella to get better. :fl:hugs:)

No, it is not an impacted crop. His crop is definitely empty! First thing I checked.

Ok, everyone, here is an update on Harvey as of this morning California time 8:45 am. Last night I asked my husband if he had any leftover antibiotics. He said no, but that we had some for a dog that was leftover from some time ago. I always put the dog meds on the top shelf of our bathroom cabinet and truth be told, I am short and cannot see what is up there! :) So he went and rummaged around and found some enrofloxacin! It was from the time our dog was shot by someone. Anyway, this morning I took 1/2 a pill, crushed it and used the baby vitamin syringe to get it into Harvey. He seems weaker (duh) and didn't fight me after I grabbed him. After giving him the antibiotic I put him in the brooder with water and food. He actually walked around in there and stayed awake for the 5 or so minutes I watched him. I have renewed hope now, that if it's something antibiotics can help he should get better. I want to thank everyone here who has prayed, wished Harvey well, given some super ideas and offered to obtain drugs on Harvey's behalf! Thank you all. You are all precious folks and it sure helps keep me going and hopeful! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! :hugs :fl :hugs :fl :hugs

I also wanted to let y'all know that I ordered Fish Mox from TSC yesterday. I received an email in the evening telling me my order was "cancelled". ???? I guess these California regulations are quite serious. I then went to Chewy.Com and ordered some. I received an email this morning that it has shipped! More good news, and I love that! :D

Noon (almost) update: Even though the girls haven't been paying much attention to Harvey they did NOT like it having him locked in the Brooder! I just let him out and watched him for awhile. He went to the baby waterer and drank for about 5 minutes and the girls came to welcome him back! Then he decided to walk down the hill to run#2. He had to pause to rest on the way. He finally made it and the girls rested at the final destination with him. We have two runs and coops. All the adult chickens were raised in run & coop #1. Where do they want to spend the day??? Run #2 of course! They all go down there and spend the day and go back to roost and sleep in coop/run #1. Chickens, who can understand them?
