Harvey the Great is Dying. . .

Pics
Noon (almost) update: Even though the girls haven't been paying much attention to Harvey they did NOT like it having him locked in the Brooder! I just let him out and watched him for awhile. He went to the baby waterer and drank for about 5 minutes and the girls came to welcome him back! Then he decided to walk down the hill to run#2. He had to pause to rest on the way. He finally made it and the girls rested at the final destination with him. We have two runs and coops. All the adult chickens were raised in run & coop #1. Where do they want to spend the day??? Run #2 of course! They all go down there and spend the day and go back to roost and sleep in coop/run #1. Chickens, who can understand them?

It's the first time in 2 days that he has walked more than 3 steps, and I'm grateful for that. He mostly just sleeps standing up, but I'm really hoping the antibiotics will work to heal this poor boy. He is not only pretty, he is the nicest rooster I've ever had! Thanks for caring. :clap

Glad to hear that Harvey is at least trying to drink and is holding on. He seems to be a fighter.
I love your avatar, what a great photo! I can never get the good shots like this, and I try hard! My avatar is my Delaware hen called "Sneeker". She likes to sneak past me into the shed where the food is!!!!

I didn't find Fish Mox on Amazon. I went to Chewy and bought some.

That's okay, I prefer going to the original source, anyway, myself. :old No need to let Amazon get their greedy hands on part of the profits when the original source can earn it all. ;) At least, that's my opinion. :D Take it or leave it.

I'm so glad you could get some on the way, at least! And I'd say, assuming you have enough of the Enroflaxin to keep him on it for a minimum of 5 days or more, to do so. Let that antibiotic work its magic on whatever may be wrong with him. Then, after the 5 to 10 days are up, if he's still not 100%, put him on the Amoxicillin for another 7 days. That way, whatever the first med couldn't get rid of, the second one might be able to clean up, and since you've started on the Enro, keep going with it for as long as you can, up to 7-10 days. You need to stay on the same med for that long to try to avoid creating any superbugs. Our antibiotics are slowly losing the ability to help us due to the improper use of it, as in using it for too short a time. [Okay, that's my soapbox moment for the day, LOL!]

My huge Jersey Giant Harvey seems to be dying. I see him eating some and drinking but he "falls asleep" just standing and ends up lying down. I go up to him and "wake him up" and he jumps up and acts relatively normal for a few minutes. He jumps on a hen, (I can hardly understand this urge to procreate) eats a bit, drinks some water and 5 minutes later he's asleep on his feet again. I can't find any thing wrong, he is breathing normally, he can eat (but he is not eating much) drinking water too. He is 17 months old and had trouble when young because he grew so fast. At one point he couldn't walk. I gave him vitamins and he was restored. I notice that he is going into the coop during the day and this is not normal for him. I think he is dying. Any thoughts? These photos were all taken today!

Is harvey is Cornish Cross ?.
17 months is not so old to die but I guess it's a normal chicken behavior to stand and sleep then go have so fun but I may be wrong too
