Harvey the Great is Dying. . .

Pics
Howdy! I think you jumped into this thread without reading it all, and I understand. His crop is empty, his poop is watery yellow tinged soup. He drinks but will not eat. He's had Corid and now started on antibiotics. If he doesn't start eating (it's been over 10 days) it won't matter anyway, he will just starve. I have force fed him, but don't really want to continue to do that. He's my sweet boy and I'm doing everything I can to help him survive. :fl

Friday morning update on Harvey. After three days of antibiotics Harvey is no better. He is not eating and growing weak. Yesterday he managed to walk to run #2 to hang with the flock and when he tried to drink water from the ground he almost fell over. He didn't try after that. I am surprised that he made it back to run #1 to roost for the night. He just stands and "sleeps" or lays down looking dead. He rarely opens his eyes. I'm afraid that it's over for Harvey. There is no more that I can do for him. Husband will not allow me to "put him out of his misery". I'm feeling sad. :hit

I am so sorry you have to watch him suffer like that. Maybe you could show your husband the posts about how this would be the kindest, most selfless thing you can do for poor Harvey. At this point, it really is for the best for him.

I'm stubborn and husband is more stubborn. He doesn't understand. He avoids the whole situation. He may come around, we will see. This is Harvey about 10 minutes ago.

Remember: we gave injections for a day and oral meds for 10. Peekaboo didnt start eating well and feeling better till about day 7 or 8! Stay the course and try to keep him hydrated. Rooster booster with electrolytes and vitamins is helpful too.
