Has anyone bred a White Gander to a Grey Goose? What were the results?

Sorry, but because all my goslings are going to be Christmas dinner, I didn't sex them. So breeding blue to gray saddleback, I got 3 nicely marked saddleback (1 light clear blue, one gray, and one buff) and 3 blue (2 normal blue and one dark charcoal). I have no idea whether the colors split along the gender lines, which would at least indicate that there is some sex linkage. Although 1 hatch certainly wouldn't prove it. 6 goslings split along the color lines could simply be by chance.

Off Topic:
Least we forget geese are foremost bred for utility...meat, liver, eggs and feathers.
I raised some Embden geese for meat this year.
Its never easy when I bring them in to get processed especially when you raise them
from goslings but the men in our family love goose for Christmas dinner.

I traded several toulouse to a friend for a starter flock of pygmy goats. He keeps them as pets and lawnmowers. They were all stolen but one on Friday evening. Somebody else apparently had the same dinner plans.

I have "reward" ads up all over the place, btu I think its too late.

Anyway- back to the colors!!!!

How about white over lavender? Or white over buff? What if the white has one little fleck of blue on its neck?

Its a risky time of the year for flocks of geese as there's lots of people out there who will steal them around Xmas time to make extra money. A time to be extra vigilant with our stock

In going back to the colours then a White gander mated to a Buff may produce Dilute Greys and White if the Pied gene is sex linked or all Greys if the gene is not sex linked. In the case of the White x Lavander I think Blue males and white females will be the result if the Pied gene is sex linked and all Blues if it is not.

I have the curly white sebbie with a pinprick spot on his neck going over a smoothe lavender, buff saddleback, white and splash girls. I also have a cotton patch with almost a reverse (negative) saddleback pattern. She is dove grey with white lacing on her saddle. If I don't sell her first I will put her in with him too.

You should get some nice results from those matings. Do you ever go onto CottageRose's Sebastopol Geese Lovers Forum as there's lots of genetics information there

From my notes from talking to Dave H. :
Lavender x white = blue females & splash males (reversed if white x lav)
Lavender x buff = all blues that carry the lavender gene.

Yes we do indeed have color formula breeding info on the genetics forum along with Pete's
great illustrated color breeding chart.
We have all other breeds of waterfowl and all other critters forum as well.
All of us have other breeds of geese and other critters.
Everybody welcome...Seb owners or not....newbies or experienced.
