Has anyone bred Pekin and welsh harlequin ducks together??

I'm ordering some Vet Wrap from Amazon to arrive tomorrow. Do you think I should get 1inch or 2inch width? Or wider?

it can be cut very easily so if you get the 2" you can cut to smaller yet you'll have wider if you need it. Tractor supply has it if you've got one of those nearby. Also, pharmacies should have it too. It might be called Coban. It's a 3M product. We used it in surgery all the time.

Well, temp is down, they're all relaxing for sleep. But, the smaller black one, Celeste (1st batch) she is still panting. I pulled her out, nares look good, letting out a "whistle chirp"...... I'm puzzled by this alot. No more panting from the rest, but shes got me wondering & worried for her for sure. I will post a video asap.

Hi, sorry I haven't gotten back sooner. My best friends started her brothers murder trial yesterday at court (he was shot during a robbery in 2017). Shes having a tough time so I've been helping with her & getting her they this. But.... Joy seems to be doing pretty good, I think. Is eating like crazy. Yesterday, she ate all day it seems. But shes really more vocal now, still quiet & hard to here her unless your close but talking up a storm. Her legs tho are bent back badly. I'm hoping to get her in the vet asap. I NEED to know some answers. Is she in pain, will she be, is this correctable, if not, can we successfully live out a good, quality life & how can we make that happen, etc., etc. Any other organization I've called, cant give me much information without seeing her. Most, I dont get calls or emails back. So..... my local vet is sweet & loves animals. She may not be an expert on ducks, themselves..... but I would think she can at least be able to tell muscle/bone status & condition regardless, right? So, we'll see. My other ducks are Growing Fast!!!!!! Huge!!! All have stopped panting except Celeste (smallest black one of the oldest 3) but now she only does it every now & then. I tried to record their quacking, but when they see me close they stop. They're terrified of my phone so they scream and run. So..... no recording as of yet.

I am so sorry about your friend having to go through this. I know she is thankful to have you with her.

Good news on Joy eating great and being vocal. All good signs and as for pain, I don't think you'd be seeing her eating so good if her pain was bad. I do think your vet can examine and tell you some things that may or may not help with her legs. Happy to hear your other babies are doing good too.

I think if Joy was in pain you'd know it for sure. She would be listless, not eat, drink etc. She will learn to live the best she can with her little legs like they are. She needs a little motorized buggy!

Hi everyone. Hope all is well. Sorry I havent posted in awhile. My best friends court case had the jury verdict yesterday...... Guilty on all charges - 2 life sentences. God is good.
So, ducks are all good. Theyve all been moved to much bigger homes, so they're happy. Joy is approx.9.2oz.now. weighed her 2 days ago. Shes eating & drinking, pooping like crazy, chirping & talking nonstop. Her legs are still pretty bad, but we are seeing the vet shortly, where we'll make some determination, I hope l, as to her condition, life, future, etc.... So, we'll see. How is everyone else? Everyone doing good? Enjoying life? Hope everyone is healthy & happy!!!

I think so too. She loves going outside in the morning (was too cold this morning) & poking her head out, looking around & listens to the birds. A worry I have is that she ALWAYS stays cold, ALWAYS. Wants to be wrapped in a blanket at all times. Well, its causing her little wings to become raw. Not where it hurts-raw right now but just losing her down in those areas. But, it will become that way, I'm sure, after some point in time. So I have to think of something to fix this issue. I made her a little sweater but she always wants her beak & face covered #1, so the sweater doesnt completely do the job.
