The plate works from hatch so you are fine using itI’m hb

No! The plate is perfect! It allows them to get the perfect amount of heat! The temp on the plate is perfect for even a 1 day old chick.I’m hb

That's very cool, I have this brooder plate and I had no idea they made a drinker that sits on top. Thanks for the info.
Is it not ok to use this with 5 day old chicks? They really weren’t figuring it out as many times as I pushed them under itThe brooder plate heats the chicks and not the brooder. When the chicks are cold, they go under and then push up into it to get warm.
They are great to use. Make sure that the height is set correctly and you will have to raise it as they grow
Thanks so much! They weren’t figuring it out though and just sitting there Chilling and chirping until I put them back under it? Do you think it’s ok for them to chill a little until the figure it out? I’m just so paranoid and I only have 2 chicks so I just don’t know how long I should give them to figure it out. I really wish I would have started them with it!No! The plate is perfect! It allows them to get the perfect amount of heat! The temp on the plate is perfect for even a 1 day old chick.
That is because you have a heat light on them! Turn the light off and push them under it. They will not stay under it that much. They will go out and under as they need too.Is it not ok to use this with 5 day old chicks? They really weren’t figuring it out as many times as I pushed them under it
Well I did turn the heat lamp off when I put it in and they got really chilled even after I put them under it and they came out to eat and started chilling and chirping and didn’t go back under until I forced them, then came back out and repeat ☝☝! I usually run to them anytime they make a noise of distress I’m just wondering if I should let them figure it out. They are brats I’ve been here with them everyday since I got them and they sleep in my room. They have really just had me there at their beckon call since they hatched. That is because you have a heat light on them! Turn the light off and push them under it. It is a great way to raise them
Yes, they are fine at a week old
