has anyone ever raised crows to chase away hawks??

To answer the one of the original questions I believe it would be neccesary to obtain permits for them since they would be protected under state game laws. I do not believe they are considered migratory so the feds would not be an issue, but state more than likely would.
On a side note I had a friend who had one growing up, it was very neat indeed. His dad found a nest, climbed the tree and took it. It bonded very well and just hung out in thier garage. I would really like a raven however because I love the croak they make.

do ravens chase hawks like crows????
i hear ravens are smarter than crows also.

I know ravens are smarter than crows and I would assume they would also chase away hawks. I am just wondering though, if you were to raise one or two would they still chase away hawks on their own or is it a learned behavior. I am leaning towards the former, but am not completely sure.

I know in my State crows are not protected and there is no limit on them.

I think they are pests. They eat native species bird babies and my duck eggs. I wouldn't put it past them to steal a baby chick.

I live in MO and we once rescued a baby possum. The conservation agent said it was okay as long as we released it when it grew up. The same might apply in your state.

i haven't seen a crow chase a hawk. in fact, where we are, the crows sometimes follow the hawks to pick up their scraps. we have plenty of crows, which don't seem to deter the hawks.

i would raise it and let it go,hoping it would stay around.

Crows are great at chasing hawks! It can be a spectadular air show to watch:ep My son raised two plus a nest of magpies. Both will chase any size hawk if they have a nest in your area! Magpies are also great for pointing out all sorts of intruders! be they winged or 4 legged!! Also a nesting kingbird will take on Anything!!
