Has anyone ever recued a Battery hen?!?

I have owned battery hens I would not say I "rescued" them though. They are like any other chicken for the most part. The ones that I got were egg eaters every last one. They never really imprinted with me like my other chickens. They were OK. Oh and Welcome

paddy farrell new member in ireland. you should rescue when young, give them a good life, its horrible how they are kept.

You are new here so I will be gentle, hens that are malnourished quit laying not good if you are in the egg business. I have had egg eaters that were fed great food from the time I hatched them, I believe it is a habit.

I did an experiment one time and found that all my hens at the time would eat the egg if I broke it first otherwise they would not eat it.

And for the record I have been to an egg farm and I assure you the hens never get a chance to eat the eggs they lay they roll away immediately so I am not really sure where one would arrive at the assumption that that is the reason they are egg eaters. All chickens are capable of being egg eaters.

To the OP battery hens are a debated subject here with alot of emotionally driven hyperbole.
