We have I would say we have had 10 or 12 of the 24 set that have hatched it is really hard to tell because it is so crowded in there. I see a pip on an egg right inside the window so another should be here soon. Of the onnes that have hatched there are 2 RIR and a bunch of little Black Sex Link roos. I have a few pullets but more than half of them are roos. When I checked around 2 this morning I was greeted by 4 little black chicks with big blond dots on their heads.
2 things I have learned:
I made the brinsea a lot harder then it really is. I worried about temps and humidity if you follow the directions it makes things simple.
I do believe I will buy a cheap hatcher or hatch a smaller amount of eggs. It just is to crowded and you can't tell how many have hatched. Saying this I am sure once this load hatches I will have it loaded and ready to go again with silkie eggs. (Never enough evil in this world.)
Anyone want a bunch of roos?
Today is day 21.
Add on at 8:00- We now have 15 chicks. Funny thing is I just realized I had 26 eggs in the incubator. Guess the silkies took up less room. so we 11 eggs still to hatch. 2 of 4 silkie eggs have zipped.
Woohoo!!
Way to go!
Congrats on your new babies.
I guess 26 eggs might have a little to do with the crowd control issue, just not alot of head room in these.
keep us posted and we want pics........
Try without flash or a shot with a little angle so it is not going to flash directly back at you from the plastic (you said you got flash-back)
can't wait to see!
I am afraid the weather was a little damp after a few hours of chicks.
Working on getting more pictures to post. Already moved those guys to a bigger container. Sigh... they take up more room than you would think they would
I am considering hatching some ducks and I'm looking into this incubator . . . my primary concern is if it is easy to control humidity. Anyone have some input for me? Thank you!
LOL While I was reading this I was wondering what I am going to do with all the ducks I could hatch . . . this could be trouble.
It is great! I did find that the factory setting for the temp seemed to be off....so I run mine at 37.7. ...and that there were "cold spot" in it especially when empty. I called and spoke with a guy who had a lot to do with the design and he said that the "cold spots" had been a problem and said the new design should take care of it pretty much.
Humidity seems to be right on when checked against a wetbulb set up.
I hatch in an old styrofoam so I can keep this rather expensive bator cleaner and it is really tight in there for hatching.
Saw a thread where someone saying that the turning motor has a design flaw and gave a easy solution.... lost the thread... can't find the info now..
Overall - it is very good!
I also love my R-com 20. very reliable and lots of room for hatching and better viewing.. I like the turning action better.
Very good also.

We had an issue with the autoturn and they sent a new motor. When my husband went to change it out he found there was a screw that was not all the way in. SO he went ahead and replaced the motor and tightened the screw. We are sending back the original motor with a note as to what the problem turned out to be.
I think for a newbie hatching out 22 of 26 by day 21 shows what a good incubator this is.
