Has anyone made a waterer with the 'chicken nipples'?

"Wondered about this and that's the only thing that kept me from doing it. Going to go get the stuff to do it. I only have one problem. I have two little bantee chickens that run with my big girls and afraid they won't be able to reach it. Any suggestions??"

I have some banties too... I just put a block of wood underneath so they could reach... so far so good

I've watering everyday for a year, but last week I put together a system that really works, I only have two adult's, predator took two this winter. We have 6 new peepers in an old pet cage, I put 2 old watering bottles in and the babies took right to them, stood in line for a drink. I'll have to expand the system when the babies are put out.

LOVE the chicken nips! I have them set up in all three of my brooders and they love them. In fact I put an old style dish down when I did an adjustment on one and they barely touched it! They're fab and you can get them from QC Supply for next to nothing. Though if you get the screw in thread I recommend using a drip cup or PTFE tape or an industrial hotglue to secure it so it doesn't leak!

Can you put the nipples low on the sides on the bucket or does it have to be the bottom? I have limited places to hang a 5 gallon bucket, but could put one on blocks.

no you cant .... the are made to be vertical so that the ss valve seats correctly to seal
i use these only
oh and if u drill the hole the right size the heat it with a lighter just a touch they seal good when they go in
if you screw it up then ream the hole and use the push in type

Before I added bantams to my flock, my first concern was for my very first GrandChick, so I had regular waterers out in a couple places where her hatch mom could take her to drink. I shouldn't have worried about it - Samantha was a very clever chick!

She jumped up into the openings in the upright concrete block supporting the bucket waterer.
