Dandy's mom
Songster
Well, My duck lives indoors, HATES outside and swims in my 5 million year old metal tub regularly. According to the vet, she needs enough room to dive to keep certain muscles strong. Never heard of this, not buying a full sized pool or digging a pond. Iv'e had ducks for 15 years, and most spend st least some time indoors. All have bathed in my tub. In fact all but Dandy have brooded in my tub too. I pick her up and put her in since there's no room for steps in the bathroom, but I have to close the curtain or she jumps out because she hates water, go figure. (hasn't hurt herself jumping out and lands fairly gracefully) I say go for it. We turned an old tub into a flower bed and it turned out cute. Now that I somehow have ten ducks, I’m looking into different pool options. My personal favorite is an antique claw foot bathtub. I’d have to put it up, on stone or maybe a wood platform, and build stairs. Other than that, do your duck minds see any issues? Did they used to paint the exterior with weird toxic and/or lead paint? Is rust dangerous? Anything else? I’m very attached to the idea of watching my ducks bathe in an actual tub.
