Hatch-a-long! ~ Anyone setting 8JAN-15JAN??

i just set 8 duck eggs this morning, 1-12-13 2 pekin, 5 rouen,1 f&w runner. this is my first hatch so i'm super egg-cited ducks have 28 day incubat time so that would mean due to hatch Feb 6? and when do i need to take them out and put them in the hatcher. i'm using a Brinsea eco 20 to incubate them and a 2362N Circulated Air Hova-Bator to hatch in. i plan on setting 6 more runner eggs next sat as well.

Just started 24 White Bresse and 20 BCM on 1/10/12.

Will be incubating till spring .
Need more birds.
The first run of the season is always the toughest, check temps,humidity....etc
Cleaning onother bator for the next run in a week.
Only have 7 months till all our livestock shows start up again.

Welcome ppimf! Lockdown for chicken eggs is day 18, so 3 days before hatch. I imagine duck eggs would be close to that. Someone else might know for sure. :)

*anyone else want to strangle their autocorrect sometimes? I swear I have had to correct my autocorrect every ten words this morning.

My eggs are set! 20 hours resting and now to cookin!

I will keep the turner off another three days or so then kick it on.

Now the waiting begins...

Sarah- Be careful what you wish for! There's another lady who put 92 in her bator and now 86 are about to hatch! She has no clue what she is going to do with that many babies! You wouldn't want to be completely overrun with chickies would you?

Haha of course I want that!!!

Candled last night to see if I could turn on the auto turner. I had 10 attached air cells, 10 loosely attached(stayed in place but the edges moved) and 2 rollers. The auto turner is staying off for 2 more days at least. :/ How are other people's shipped eggs looking? Or not shipped even? :)

Could be worse! I'm looking forward to seeing how well they do.

Joining in on this hatch-a-long....

Set 7 Black Java eggs from our flock of layers in our new Brinsea Mini-advanced on 1/14. I'm needing to add to our flock, as a fox got 2 pullets earlier this winter. I wish to keep our flock of layers around 10 hens, presently only have 5 and 2 pullets...so barely keeping up egg production with egg consumption. We're getting 3 eggs a day consistently at this time of year (thank you girls!). Amazing birds these Java's are!

Santa brought the incubator and I was trying REALLY hard to not incubate before mid-February. But 1 hen is lame and 1 blind from the same fox attack that took out some of the layers. So I'm afraid I'll be having to put the blind girl out and the lame girl is in question. That's definately not enough birds...so the 'bator got fired up!

Now, it's just a count-down...wow, it's going to be a long month!
