Hatch a long during the month of July

I am curious to see how they come and worried my mail carrier will leave the box on my porch while I am at work. They said July 4th week so Maybe I will get mine next Week?

I was worried about that too! Mine were scheduled for the week of June 20th and I was told by MPC that hatching eggs will ship either mon/tues or fri/sat of your scheduled week. Mine didn't go out until Saturday of my week but arrived Monday morning (today). I got a tracking number in an email as soon as they shipped. They will have your phone number on the box and it says to call and hold at the post office for pick up. I called my PO first thing this morning before they officially opened to make sure they did hold them and they were very nice about it. No problems!

ETA- mine came from NC to Ohio, priority mail. Each egg was bubble wrapped and then all together tucked heavily in newspaper in the box.

I hope they call - They have had issues before - Once my local PO had my chicks and left them at the airport I went to the post office three times that day to tell them tracking showed they had them only to get a call the next AM telling me my package was not peeping. Another time the Postal Deliverer - ignored the hold notice that was still on the box and drove with them in her truck on a very hot day and delivered them around 5 and half had died the others were dying- I had such a mess on my hands. After meeting with the P.O. Master things improved. So I am hoping they do call me.

I am getting two Spanish exchange students on Friday and hopefully these eggs next week. I tested my incubator and got 99 consistant degrees in 24 hours plugged in.

I am hoping the hatch is good.

Any word on your eggs yet? As of now, my eggs are on day 8- started with 28 eggs. 4 culls so far- 2 blood rings, an infertile that was clear with bubbles all over during candling, and one was smelling/rotten. I have tons of movement and stable air cells now in 11 of them. 2 questionable and 11 seem clear/early quitters but the shells are also thick/dark so I'll wait up to day 18 for notable changes/movement unless they start to smell.

This was an Ameriflower on Day 4:

I need to get more pictures of them soon they are so much bigger and look like they are swimming around! :)

We're on Lockdown
Hatching 10\12 second gen EE off some birds we sold. Very large eggs.
For my boss.

Hatching 15/16 of our EE.
We took out the ones that had apparently given up.

Our babies are due July 10

Gonna jump right in here...

The incubator is all set up and holding temperature. We'll be setting some eggs later today. I have been pulling eggs over the past eleven days from our breeder pens. Breeder pen one is a black copper marans over cuckoo marans. Breeder pen two is the current cuckoo marans over a single cuckoo marans and a couple of delawares. Pen one is set up to improve our current cuckoo marans stock to the French standard with feathered legs. Also the BCM cock genetics should help with improving the egg color. The cuckoo marans should put some egg size and better type into our BCM line and adjust the temperament a bit. Pen two is set up to preserve the current cuckoo marans line's genetics. The main goal is to hatch a solid second rooster from the line that can back up the current top cock bird. Of course, some meat for the freezer will be and added bonus. Marans are indeed tasty birds.

We just completed a hatch from these pens and had a good hatch rate with strong, healthy, vigorous chicks. The weather here in central Florida is, of course, hot. The cuckoo marans are laying large eggs well through the heat. Hopefully I'll collect the last two eggs today for the hatch. If so, we'll be setting 36 eggs total.

The incubator is a Farm Innovators Inc. model 2100 still air incubator with automatic egg turner. The dry hatch method will be used until lockdown. Then the humidity target will be 60% - 70%. The hatch rate to beat from the last hatch using this method is 86%.

Good luck to all the other July hatchers out there.

Incubator is set and holding good temperature. Ended up setting a total of 34 eggs. 16 eggs set from breeding pen 1 and 18 eggs from breeding pen 2. Should have a nice batch of fuzzy butts zooming around the brooder by the end of the month.

Good luck!! I have 3 of 4 Birchen Marans left on day 14. I have never hatched Marans before and I thought they were all duds until maybe 3 days ago and started seeing tons of movement! :)

Good luck!! How many pips do you have so far? I love EE, I think it's so cool to see how they turn out.
