I am curious to see how they come and worried my mail carrier will leave the box on my porch while I am at work. They said July 4th week so Maybe I will get mine next Week?

I hope they call - They have had issues before - Once my local PO had my chicks and left them at the airport I went to the post office three times that day to tell them tracking showed they had them only to get a call the next AM telling me my package was not peeping. Another time the Postal Deliverer - ignored the hold notice that was still on the box and drove with them in her truck on a very hot day and delivered them around 5 and half had died the others were dying- I had such a mess on my hands. After meeting with the P.O. Master things improved. So I am hoping they do call me.
I am getting two Spanish exchange students on Friday and hopefully these eggs next week. I tested my incubator and got 99 consistant degrees in 24 hours plugged in.
I am hoping the hatch is good.

Gonna jump right in here...
The incubator is all set up and holding temperature. We'll be setting some eggs later today. I have been pulling eggs over the past eleven days from our breeder pens. Breeder pen one is a black copper marans over cuckoo marans. Breeder pen two is the current cuckoo marans over a single cuckoo marans and a couple of delawares. Pen one is set up to improve our current cuckoo marans stock to the French standard with feathered legs. Also the BCM cock genetics should help with improving the egg color. The cuckoo marans should put some egg size and better type into our BCM line and adjust the temperament a bit. Pen two is set up to preserve the current cuckoo marans line's genetics. The main goal is to hatch a solid second rooster from the line that can back up the current top cock bird. Of course, some meat for the freezer will be and added bonus. Marans are indeed tasty birds.![]()
We just completed a hatch from these pens and had a good hatch rate with strong, healthy, vigorous chicks. The weather here in central Florida is, of course, hot. The cuckoo marans are laying large eggs well through the heat. Hopefully I'll collect the last two eggs today for the hatch. If so, we'll be setting 36 eggs total.
The incubator is a Farm Innovators Inc. model 2100 still air incubator with automatic egg turner. The dry hatch method will be used until lockdown. Then the humidity target will be 60% - 70%. The hatch rate to beat from the last hatch using this method is 86%.
Good luck to all the other July hatchers out there.![]()
We're on Lockdown
Hatching 10\12 second gen EE off some birds we sold. Very large eggs.
For my boss.
Hatching 15/16 of our EE.
We took out the ones that had apparently given up.
Our babies are due July 10
