chicknlove was the humidity high throughout or just the lockdown? I have read till 55% is ok, I don't know if it was more than that it might have hurt, coz drowned chiks are impossible to save.

I love all the pictures of course.
update
My chickens all stopped laying before my new combo incubator/hatcher was finished so I set 18 rather stale eggs at noon on the 25th.
The next morning I woke to a failed heat element after it had maintained temp for 4 days(temp was down to 84). I moved the eggs to the hatcher which was only holding between 96 and 99.
A week later I got the heat in the incubator to maintain. Moved the eggs in there along with 14 more - 12 fertile Whole Foods Market eggs that were 14 days old and 2 of my fresh eggs.
The following morning I had a power loss. Temp dropped to 80. Fixed the problem and restored temp.
Day 18 I moved 9 of the original eggs to the hatcher and opened the 9 that appeared clear and they had not developed.
Most of my eggs are very dark and it's nearly impossible to see anything but an air cell and sometimes not that.
Day 23 I woke to a fluffy chick from a 15 day old egg. Day 24 today and nothing new. I hope he gets siblings soon.
I do have 40 much fresher eggs in the incubator now due NYD but 28 of them were shipped.

All the Whole foods eggs from the second set are clear.

what was your humdity before and after lockdown?
before was 35%-40% throughout, never changed.. Lockdown was 80% plus when they started hatching even up to 95% 24 hours after the last one hatched I candled the rest and float tested them and non of them moved they were all quitters.

a couple of them I noted were rocking away in the eggs on day 20 but stopped by day 21. My humidity was 55% in the room. I did an eggtopsie on one of my quitters and it looked shrink wrapped. I never moved throughout lockdown. So I think it was an early death, they say the membrane can rupture and dry out after they die and I think that's what happened. All I know is there were a couple days when my temps spiked real high. I candled and saw movement in them but some movement was pretty faint and could have been dead embryos just kinda floating and I mistook them for live embryos. I put them all in for lock down because I wasn't quite sure.. When I did my final candling(end of day 22) I noticed 3 or 4 that were def under developed.

I forgot to say because I can't rely on steady temps with this bator, I'm def going to get a nicer one for any future hatches. No more heart attacks.

Even duing lock down it was a pain to keep up with the temp we had towels all around it and had to check it every 1/2 hour and wake up during the night to keep an eye on it. We use a fire place for heat duing the winter and had to make sure we kept up with the fire 24/7. So a little nicer bator would have been much less a headache.
