Hatch Along March 1st

Hi there! I set a mix of eggs from my silkie(BBS), showgirl and d'uccle girls on 3/1 and received 24 shipped silkie eggs this morning that are resting before joining the others. I will be doing a staggered hatch...setting in my Brinsea Octagon 20 Advance EX and moving to my LG still air for lockdown and hatching. I haven't done a start-finish hatch in an incubator before or hatched shipped eggs either so this is totally a learning experience for me. Good luck everyone!

Glad we have a few people doing this hatch-a-long. I candled last night and I have 4/4 Mille
Fluer, 4/5 BLRW, 6/6 Wheaton/blue Wheaton Ameraucana fertile eggs. Of course it's very difficult to see veining in the Marans so ill wait till day 10 to candle them.

I'll candle tonight and maybe get an idea of how many are developing. It's still a little early for me, I set a day after you Blingaling. But I've got my fingers crossed! I'll probably weigh this batch for the first time tonight, too. Your numbers sound great so far!!!

I set a lone golden polish egg 3/1. It was the only egg that survived shipping. Bummer. I was really excited to have my first polish chickens. But I candled last night and saw an embryo so I hope it makes it till the end!

Well, I candled last night. Preliminary are not looking so good, only 8 of the 24 are definitely developing. 7 are definitely NOT developing, and the other 9 are a little too dark-shelled to be sure. Hrm. Wonder if I've got a fertility problem with that roo. My other roo had 21 out of 24 fertile on the last hatch!

I set 14 mixed breed from my girls outside on the 1st.. First set for this year. Hope to candle tomorrow. Doing a dry hatch again. Had pretty good hatch in October. Keeping fingers cruised for just as good this time.

I started incubating 9 of my mixed brahma bantam and 1 mixed brahma egg on the 25th of February they are due next week :)

Sweet! Was hoping I'd see a hatch-a-long like this. I set my eggs on March 1 so day 1 for me is the 2nd and hatch day is the 22nd. This is my third hatch and I had pretty good hatch rates my first two times. I set 38 eggs this time. Candled for the first time the other day.

I am certain that 6 were definitely infertile and 9 more were question marks but some looked like they were developing. I don't take anything out this early just in case.

I set australorp eggs from my own flock.

Here's one of the chicks from my 2nd hatch. Their feathers are coming in! Such cuties :)

Oh and here are my eggs :)

Taken before temp was stable. It's now stable at 99 and holding great! Humidity stays around 38%. For the first 18 days I leave both red caps off the bigger air holes and I fill only the middle water thing for that humidity then during lockdown I block one of the bigger air holes and fill the other two water spaces and the humidity jumps to around 50% ish. Stays around 60% when the chicks start hatching. I only turn twice a day.
