Hatch Along March 1st

I candled on day 7 and marked the air cells. All 4 of my D'Uccle eggs were infertile.

The others I set (of my own silkie and showgirl eggs) were ALL developing perfectly. I couldn't believe it.

Today was day 3 for my shipped silkie eggs. I had them in a separate still air LG for the first 3 days but added them to my Brinsea tonight so they would start turning (after making room by moving 5 of my silkie and showgirl eggs to a broody since I didn't have any quitters-woot!). I couldn't resist so I candled 4 random shipped eggs and all 4 had good air cells and I could see the start of veining. Too good to be true, right?

Sorry about the D'Uccle eggs but congrats on the rest!! I love seeing the first development when I set eggs.

16 eggs put in, cant wait!

I think the hatch will be around the 29th for me.

Now to keep busy and not think about the bitties!

Thanks :) I love seeing the first development too and my kids are just amazed by the whole process. They love that you can see movement even from early stages. Their faces look just like they do on Christmas morning...every time!

Hi! I set 12 call duck eggs on March 1. The eggs were from my own pair of pastel calls. So far so good. I have them in a hov-a-bator with the auto air circulating / heating set up. I am turning them by hand. As of today I have 10 eggs that are doing well, very simulated and much movement when candled! This is my first hatch, I know calls are known to be extremely difficult to hatch. Just keeping them in my prayers and cant wait to see how many make it to hatch date approx March 28! So exciting to see them developing!! Good luck to all on your own hatches, will be looking for your updates!

I just candled last night and had to remove 6 Marans eggs from the bator that were infertile. They were shipped eggs so I'm not too bummed. Still should have plenty of babies hatching. Hope everyone else is doing well.

I candled mine this morning, I see lots of veins, but no ebryos, the seem to float away before I can get an eye on them. One actually wiggled, so I know at least one is alive and moving. The others though are hard to tell.

Wanted to share a candling photo of my banty golden polish egg. You can actually see the foot. And it definitely was a foot because I saw it kicking and saw its stick legs lol. Thought it was cool. This was today on Day 11.
