All the birds I hatched have grown incredibly fast. Must be that Hybrid Vigor! All of the eggs I hatched are purebred crossbreeds. I think most of the white ones are Columbian Wyandotte x Buff Orpington. The white coloring must be Heterozygous Dominant because 75% of the birds I hatched where white with some Columbian Wyandotte color leakage. Of the hens my rooster covered, non of them were white! I can see why you would think Delaware. Some of the white chicks have single combs and some have rose combs. I think the one in the picture by itself may have a single comb. They grow so fast! They are just beautiful! They sure are big looking... we'll have to grab a couple of snapshots of ours soon. It is really something to see them looking like miniature chickens now instead of babies. All the birds I hatched have grown incredibly fast. Must be that Hybrid Vigor! Wooow, the white one is so pretty!! Mine are out in the grow out pen with a light in their little coop though I don't think they need it so will probably stop turning it on at night soon. I'll try to remember to get some pics of them out there tomorrow. They're like little puppy dogs. They crowd the run door when I try to come in then they're all around my feet so I can barely walk! Cute little things. They know who brings the food already! I think my count is 7 cockerels and 6 pullets. Our two chicks are 5 weeks old today!!! Here's what they look like! Can we tell gender yet????
This is Obie = Golden Lakenvelder
This is Harper = Blue Laced Red Wyandotte
Haven't seen a chick with quite that bright of yellow. Neat!!!
Love the pics.. and that gold color on yours is awesome! Is that a trick of the camera or is it that dark in regular lighting also? and love the stripes on the back of the one in the last pic!
