Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

You're going to have a yard full!   Can't wait to see more pics!   We are anxiously waiting for someone else to go broody!  We would love some more little ones but guess we can wait for a while.
Still needing a couple breeds to round out our breeding stock for meaty egg mixers.

What Other Breeds Are You Looking ToGet?

What Other Breeds Are You Looking ToGet?
LF cochins (though I do have a source for those already) ...for broodies
Dorkings (prefer heritage)
LF cornish (prefer heritage)
Barred Rocks still (only one hen from the 4 we hatched, so still want 2 more hens)

looking for good quality birds close to SOP for the breed for health and broody tendancies, but not worried about 'show quality'...

well we have barred rock in the bator ;) we won't be able to keep all the chicks we hatch....LOL

Ok I have to admit, I sold a batch of chicks w/o getting pics to post here, my bad.

I was in a rush to get them out the door so farmsitting didn't need to worry w/ new hatched chicks when we have to run our houseguest & her DH to hospital for their impending baby (due 4/9 looks like will "hatch" early)

Then a funny thing happened as I was cleaning up the unhatched late eggs from the batch I sold,
an egg peeped at me! oopsies!!

So a day later than the others I now have 4 more just hatched chicks, too ironic given my prior low hatch rates.
& Even funnier , April fools joke on me!! -- They didn't look like the other chicks, although the eggs were all the same looking,
& all labled by me as EE, from my EE pen w/ Handsome as the Roo,
body shape different, feet different, colors/patterns/textures different.

I puzzled all day, I have a pen w/ Lady Black a Jap banty/gamhen mix, under Sizzleboy but her eggs are smaller,
I can tell them apart. I could see the eggs these 4 hatched out of, _no way_ did L. Black lay those eggs, too big,
identical to the day earlier 6 who hatched as far as the eggs, completely diff. chicks popped out!!??

Then I finally remembered, one day about a month ago, the divider between the coop halves got torn down, and Sizzleboy ended up on Handsome's side, found him a little worse for it & hiding in a corner behind the nest boxes. APRIL FOOLS ON ME!! The eggs came from my layer flock under Handsome, but apparently were collected after they had a "visit" from Sizzleboy and THESE 4 chicks are not EE but Silkied <face palm> ooops....
& I've had 2 calls from the CL list advert for the 6EE but now all I have are the 4 Silkies, happy april.

Bring him with you this weekend & swap him out for a pullet when you pick up your other chicks

sorry i was using my phone and it wouldn't let me type anything lol

We may have a couple people who MAY want him but if we don't hear anything from anyone we will be bringing him with us when we pick up the chicks. Not sure we really want to swap for a pullet cause we have a bunch of eggs in the bator. But we can figure it out once we know for sure what we are doing. I'll PM you later once we talk to some people. Do you want your strawberry shoots also?

Sure. Save on shipping

The garden is all tilled, but I need to shovel some dirt into the planters for the strawberries yet. Won't take long to do. I have other seeds to get planted plus my raspberry starters so I'll send JJ out with a shovel.
