to the new baby!
and I'm so sorry to say this... but as soon as you said you had a polish nursing intern at the hospital the first thing I thought was... wonder if they had puffy hair???

I'm so sorry... but I must have been around chickens too much because it's just the first image that pops into my head!

That is just too funny!

I don't find it offensive at all! I am always chickenizing, dogizing, horseizing things and people in the "real" world. I can't help it if thats the first image I see!

Blue/black/splash Ameraucana chicks due to hatch on Sunday! They will be my first Ameraucanas and I am going to try to breed and show them. Super excited! I hope hatching goes smoothly this go around. I am going to try a lower humidity and hopefully I won't have any sticky chicks this time!

I'm looking for Silkies, turkeys & guineas. If anyone has any to spare that they would like to swap for pekins, runners or EE (EE roo over assorted layer hens, will make EE babies) please PM me.

Actually, they are a landrace breed & some are crested some are not. Of the 7 I hatched recently 2 appear that they will have small crests. My hatching eggs came from CarolJ here on BYC.
I had a temp spike and lost many eggs from that incubator but got 50% on the SFH and those 7 which hatched have been robust healthy birds. This is at a couple days old.

Sorry, I'm so far behind. Congratulations on all the new fuzzy butts and the not so fuzzy butt. Now the peeps (peep) will be a little different. lol The chicks are so cute. How are the Lakenvelder chicks doing? There is so much to read I don't remember how your hatches are doing? Mine have progressively gotten better. The last one would have done better if I hadn't put so many eggs in. It said it would hold 50, I had 45 to start but when they started hatching, the rolling and banging around caused some to get holes in the shell where it shouldn't. I 2nd guessed myself and added water for humidity and that caused trouble with some. I'm documenting everything for next year. I have 8 Barred Rock and 2 BCM due to hatch early next week and a couple doz turkey eggs by the middle of May. I'd like to say that I'll be done but I've sold all my BCM chicks and I'd like 8 or so for me. As soon as I can get a doz eggs together, I'll stick them in. THEN I'LL BE DONE. It always seems like a good idea when I start.

Geese are the only domestic poultry that I am completely terrified of!!!

Yet in this picture they aren't scary at all, just kind of soft and cudly, go figure.

I've raised a LOT of birds & the geese are by far the calmest & most easy going, especially as babies. The only time my adults hiss is when you startle them. They "talk" to us when we bring the feed bowl. And they go right into their pen at night when you tell them "bed time."

I just candled the goose egg I have in the bator & it is looking ok. What day# did yours hatch? I've read 30 & 35 days so I'm not certain what to expect...
