Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

I'll be setting about 36 or so eggs from an Amish farm up the road from me on Monday. I stopped today but she didn't have any that she hadn't already washed & refrigerated so she's collecting for me over the weekend. It will be an assortment of Rainbow eggs with EE, OE, Cuckoo Marans & hybrid layers in the mix. They lay the Rainbow :D
I want my chickens to lay the rainbow!!

All sorts of colors, they're from Catdance here on BYC. Its an assortment pack that was listed about a week back on the sales thread. I've hatched out 4x from her in the past and always had good hatch rates 60-75% and they're beautiful birds!

Sounds like good hatches from that breeder. I really want a silkie or 2 down the road. Do you have some in your flock? or just hatch and sell? Im only curious because of NH weather?

So I went and picked up my eggs this morning!
I ordered:
7 Black Copper Maran
7 Golden Cuckoo Maran
7 White Maran

The farmer gave me that plus 9 more mystery unlabeled Maran eggs! So what to do when you have 30 eggs to fit in your new Brinsea which only holds 24?
You put them in there anyway!

Wow that is a lot of eggs in there. Will they incubate like that ok?

I hatch and sell these, can't keep them in stock. People seem to love them and they are pretty darn cute. My personal flock is only LF. I'll be selling some CCL (GFF) and BLRWs (Foley) eggs in a month or so. I'm lucky enough to have a gqf brooder stack to keep them in the basement until their feathered out.

I did a lot of reading, and a lot of folks stack extras in their Brinseas, so I think it'll be fine until lockdown. You're supposed to stack extras at the edges so they don't get too hot. Unless I lose some along the way, or have some infertile eggs, I'll probably have to put some in my Hovabator to hatch. My brooder is also a little tight for 30 chicks, so if they all hatch, this will definitely be an adventure. But it's easy enough to set up a 2nd brooder.
