Lucky you! I'm still waiting for my Brinsea to arrive...ground shipping is really slow and it's trying my patience. But I've got a small handful of my own Welsummer eggs that I'd like to hatch/experiement with since this is my first go of it. The science, the opinions of it all is fascinating! Can't wait!! And then maybe after this, i might get some Marans as i saw an ad on Craiglist from a local breeder- who knows.

Chicken math

we are all slaves to its design. I tried really hard to just use my brinsea mini , 6-10 eggs at a time no problem few more if theres quail eggs invovled , small orderly keeping things under control ....... I coudnt take it for more then a few months , I now have the chic bator (dang thing came brand new not working)(experments) , a box and a lamp (experments) and I even did what I promised my self I would never do and took the old beat up second hand crappy LG out of my closet and now I have
8 Orpinton eggs in the brinsea
8 Serama eggs in the box with lamp
5 serama eggs under a broody hen (I had not control over that one

)
4 bob white eggs in the LG
12 Rock Island store bought eggs in the LG
and Im considering putting all the cortunix eggs that get laid by day 4 into the LG as well

Its naught my fualt the chickens made me do it.

I purchased my eggs online and they were sent out on the second. My estimated arrival date was on the fourth. Today is Saturday the fifth and i haven't received my eggs yet. I know my eggs wont come tomorrow because it is Sunday. That is 5 days of shipping! I am pretty much counting these eggs as a waist of time.

This is going to be such a fun hatch thread to follow and be a part of . There's a bunch of us that are totally newbs at this (we'll be the comic relief), some veterans and some folks that are hatching some pretty interesting birds. I can't wait to see the pics in a few weeks from now. I'm going to learn a lot about how baby chicks look, which reminds me I have to write down what kind of chick each number is.

Yes it is exciting! I'm worried about the humidity though and keeping it stable. I have an LG with no fan. I don't think I'll sleep for 21 days.
