Hatch-Along - Setting eggs this weekend (Jan5/6) WHOS WITH ME!

They're in! I filled all 42 slots, go big or go home, right? Most are my own backyard mix and 12 are from a lady down the road from me, 5 of her Ameraucana/Leghorn pale blue egg layer crosses and 5 of her Marans and two brown who knows, the question is which of her 6 roos covered them, could be any of 2 Marans, a Buff white egg layer that I can't remember the breed of, a BLR Wyandotte, Welsummer and a Delaware. It's the ones on the top two rows except for the end right two. Gonna be a fun and crazy mix! Yay Mutts!! We did have to modify the Hovabator a bit, I bought a digital thermometer/hydrometer and I didn't want it right on the eggs, but as close as possible to get an accurate humidity. So we took two bad carbon fiber arrows that should be non heat conducting and made a little rack across the top of it. I'm so glad the hubs thinks like MacGuyver!!! (Ignore the temp, we aren't back to 99.5 yet...)

I love all the home grown and local eggs Look at all those colors! I could not find much local and dream of hatching my own someday!I got the same therm/hygrometer and have the little giant, so it looks very similar, except your's is full and mine only has 13 ;)

I just set my first batches ever two hours ago. It's a mix of Rhode Island Reds, Black Australorps, Barred Plymoth Rocks, Buff Orphingtons, Easter Eggers (supposedly Ameraucanas), and White Leghorns. I'm not entirely sure how long I'm going to wait to turn them, but I'm thinking 3 days. Hopefully everyone has a good hatch! I'm just trying for at least 3 hens out of my 21 eggs.

Everyones eggs are looking great by the way Im so excited almost all of us our set. And the others will be set soon. Now the fun begins and we can be glued to the incubator with nose smudges on the window. And I cant wait for all the candling results and pics if anyone is willing to try pics during candling.

I've ordered the Brinsea candler so will take pix on day 7 of the cream Legbars! I sure would appreciate the feedback. I'm really pleased the temp and RH have been continually stable. One thing I need to do when I candle is to number the eggs and keep notes. Should hv done that from the outset.
