Hatch-Along - setting eggs tonight or tom who's with me on this

I set 15 eggs this afternoon after I built an incubator. Hopefully it works well - we'll see. My kids are very excited - I wanted to try and see if I could hatch some babies before I donated 50 eggs to the local school in March. They had a bad hatch rate last year and I was hoping they would do better this year if I donated some eggs to them.

Yeah, they really love those mealworms!

How many eggs approx are you going to set?

How long do you wait to candle the eggs? 7-10 days?

I will be setting around 75 eggs. My last hatch was 3/4 males so I want to increase my odds and the kiddos all had requests for breeds they wanted.

Oh, and we candle at 7 days and then again before "lockdown". Although I really have to sit on my hands to avoid candling every day. Last hatch I candled too many times on the 2 closer to the door and both died

I just set 7 eggs in my Brinsea Mini Advance. First time ever hatching, so we'll see how it turns out! I got eggs from a mixed flock. All are brown except for 2, which are green, so I'm hoping for some EE! :-D

Well I would love to join. I set 24 Catdance silkies last night. This also will be my first time and spent half the night last night checking to make sure the temp and humidity were stable. This is going to be a long 21 days haha I keep wondering how I was able to be preg for 9 months because this seems like eternity! I am using a Brinsea Octagon 20 digital I purchased on Craigslist. Hoping there are no glitches from using a Used bator. Candled all my eggs before setting and there was only one detached air cell. One eggs had a dark spot inside already so I'm wondering if those darn broody silkies didn't start it for me but she sent plenty of extras so I'm hoping for a good hatch. Good luck everyone!

I am a compulsive candler. From day 7-18 I am candling pretty much every day. I just have to be reassured they are still alive. Sometimes I even take a sneak peak before day 7.

Sorry I didn't get back to the people asking about what I set. These are all eggs from other people but local (well, 1-1.5 hours away from me). I set: 14 cream legbars, 6 BCM, 17 Oliver eggers, 3 dozen duck (Rouens and runners), 6 1/2 dozen Buff orphington, 2 dozen Delaware, and 6 dozen white leghorn. I guess it's closer to 21 dozen. I plan on selling them all and have some orders for some already.

i only have one ameraucana hen right now thats laying for me but non of her eggs are fertile i just got her so I'm not surprised the rooster is not really interested in hens at all ether right now cause i just got him to all he wants is to take over the flock
