Haha, I used a cooler, same design! And cookie cooling rack as well! Hopefully we both do well for our first time!

This is my first time incubating too and I also built a homemade incubator. We're on day 4 and things are looking good so far. I checked a bunch of my eggs last night and was very happy to see veining in several of them. I can see a huge difference between a couple of days ago and today.
Stupid question...the day you set the eggs in the incubator, is that day zero or day one. If I set my eggs on 1/31 and it's now 2/3, is this day 3 or day 4 for me.

Wow I wish I could get those kind of odds. This is my 5th batch of shipped eggs & I've never got more than about 45% to develop much less hatch. What is your secret?Well I candled all my eggs this morning and it looks like I have around 16 developing eggs out of 24...since 6 of those were extras I am very happy with those odds! Especially since they were shipped eggs! woo hoo. I also got a few eggs that I added to the incubator this morning so I will keep everyone updated on how this staggered hatch pans out. Day 5 and counting.
I have nooo clue this is my first hatch haha...I'm gonna guess luck. My eggs are Catdance silkies, so with good fertility and great packing and marking the box the USPS was very gentle. I have the brinsea Octagon 20 older version 2005ish and I've been keeping the temp at 99.5-100 and humidity @ 40-45. I'm thinking it's the eggs totally!!!! hope I don't loose too many before hatch day! I want me some silkies!Wow I wish I could get those kind of odds. I've been wanting a brinsea but they are pretty pricey. So many people say such good things about them it may have paid for itself in all the shipped eggs I have gone through to get a few chicks. I thought my Little Giant was keeping a pretty steady temp but something isn't going right. Good luck with yours!I have nooo clue this is my first hatch haha...I'm gonna guess luck. Thanks!I just read that if you set them at night, the next day is day 1. If you set them in the morning or early in the afternoon, that is day one.....
I grabbed my eggs and had them set in the bator by 1pm so I am saying that was day 1 for me......
I found mine used on Craigslist...Is like new and came with a candler and automatic turner. I paid $125....I did see someone had one posted on here under "Everything Else" buy-sell-tradeI've been wanting a brinsea but they are pretty pricey.
