Hatch-Along - Setting eggs week of February 8th!! Who's joining me?

Okay, thanks! It's a really small pip, so I won't expect it to hatch completely until mid to late day tomorrow.

Yippie! I was going to say what others said. Mine came early for the first round. Second round my temps were low after lockdown, so I don't know whether the action will start tomorrow or Sunday....

I think from pip to hatch averaged about 5-6 hours for my first batch....the bulk of the time is between pip and zip. Zip to hatch seemed to be about 1-1.5 hrs.

Now don't be too worried if she doesn't bust out right away. It can be as fast as 15 minutes but as slow as 24 hours before he hatches. It normally takes a few hours at least.

That is what mine are doing. They pip and then nothing for hours. But once they start to make a run for daylight it only takes them 90 minutes or less to break out.

Got one that pipped the wrong end of the egg, not sure if that one will fare well or not. The other I was worried about is dead. I cracked it open and it looks like it turned after making the hole and smothered itself. Head was complete opposite from where the hole was.

So far I have 16 hatched with 11 more still in the shell and one that did not make it. Time will tell if the rest will join the flock or not.

I hear soft peeps in the brooder! I might get some new fledglings today....now if only the one in the brooder with the separation anxiety would realize I'm still in the room ;)

All but 3 eggs have pips! They are little pips, but they're still pips! Lol! We have a bigger pip with a chickie still working on it. Do chicks sometimes pip to breathe oxygen and wait another day to come out?

I hear chirping, it's day 21 in a few hours. Should they have pipped by now? I'm wondering about my humidity now. I had it at 75, is that too high. I started worrying over it and raised the lid just a little and took out two of the sponges. It went to 70 quick, am I drowning them?
