i'll be putting eggs in the brinsea tomarrow morning as my first test run of ducks. i got 2 pekin, 2 rouens, and 1 runner ready hopefully another 5 tomarrow morning then i put in 10. this is my first hatch, and my first hatch-a-long, incubator has ran 2 days at 99.5

Setting 30 mixed eggs tomorrow! 4 Marans, some Cochins, a few Silkies, and some Americaunas. This is my first foray into chickens, let alone incubating so i'm really nervous!

Yay! I am completely new to this, but put 10 eggs under my Broody Buff Chantecler tonight. Fingers crossed! It will be fun to hatch along with others!

I"m completely new to hatching too, Destinysma!

I popped a mixed dozen under our broody Silver Laced Wyandotte last night (Jan 11 here in Aus).
There are
2 x Coronation Sussex
2 x Light Sussex
2 x Faverolle
2 x Barnevelder
1 x Australorp
3 x Silver Spangled Hamburgs

All under the lovely Lola

Awww She is so pretty!

It's pretty cold here, but I keep reading that the hens are fine in the cold, and they sure don't seem to mind. Tonight it is 33 F here...Of course the night we are ready to go it has to be one of the coldest nights of the winter. :(

Eggs I put under Rowena

4x Light Sussex
2x Ameracauna/Easter Egger
1x California White
3x light brown mystery eggs! Could be any one of 8 breeds including Black Australorp, Black Langshan, Buff Orpington, Gold Sex Link, Iowa Blue, Production Red, Salmon Favorelle, and Welsummer

So...I really hope they hatch so I can find out what they are! :)

Has anyone had experience with a Broody who is less than 8 months old? She has been sitting for 2 weeks before I finally decided to give her some eggs. She seems determined, I hope it works out well!

Hi I set eggs on the 11th as well :) i have some black copper marans and lavender orpington eggs in the brinsea. i'm suppose to be getting some legbar eggs next week too :) those i plan on sneaking under a couple of broody silkies that are currently sharing a nest with infertile eggs. fingers crossed for great hatches for everyone.

i have been hatching eggs off and on several times a yr for the last 3 yrs, some great hatches others total failures. the last time i tried bcm i only got 1 to hatch and it turned out to be a roo. i live in town and cant have roos so he had to go :( hope this time i get hens, lots of hens! :) this is the first time i've tried orpington and legbar eggs so hoping for the best!
I think its gonna be interesting to see how the different incubation methods compare silkie vs. brinsea :) this will be the first time i've let them set on eggs till hatch. i have placed day old chicks under broodies to let them raise them ( usually when i have a hatch that only 1 hatches, it makes introducing the lone chick to the flock sooooo much easier)
i always get so excited when i set eggs, can't wait for day 7 to candle and of course hatching day! good luck everyone on your hatches will keep you all posted on how things are going here :)

ended up only putting 1 runner,5 rouen, and 2 pekin, today 1-12-13 at 10am. due to hatch feb 9th. so i need to do lock down on day 25? so that would mean feb 6th ? i think that is how they say to do it. let me know if i'm wrong thanks this is my first hatch, incubating in an brinsea eco 20, hatching in a 2362N Circulated Air Hova-Bator. any help will be great thanks again

I'm putting 2 welsummer, 4 silver spangeled hamburg and 3 speckeled sussex eggs under my silkie Today!!!!:)
