Well, I will update!!

Mine are much better than I thought a couple of days ago. I have at least 12 that are doing just fine!!

I was sure they were all dead. But what I have discovered is that they look really different because I have them incubating in egg cartons. I am tempted to take them out and lay them down so they will look more like the ones in all the pictures. Anyway, when they are tilted one way for a while, I can see the little embryo and all its veining, but when they have been tilted the other way for a while, it is harder to see. I think that is what made me think things were not going well.

So, I am happy again. I have even been able to find little swimmers in at least 2 of my Marans eggs which makes me very happy!! The third is so heavily speckled on the outside that I can't see anything at all. Will just have to wait on that one.

I may try to take some candling pics either tonight or tomorrow. If I can get any decent ones, I will post them.

I have quite a few clear eggs, but I am leaving them in there to help stabilize the temperature.

Temps are holding steady today...

Im due March 5th. I have about 2 dozen in my bator. Mostly a Marans mix, (BBS and BC), a few olive eggers and Ameraucanas. Im gonna candle tonight and see how things look. Im hoping I can see in the Marans eggs though, they're so dark!

I would like to join in also. I am due March 3rd. I have I think 32 total in 2 'bators. 21 Delaware, 4 BBS Orpingtons, 4 Barred Rock and 3 Black or White Java.

So far all but 5 are doing well with Veining and or Embryo's visible in all but the 5. Of those 5 4 are clear and one was an obvious bloodring. I am not candling except on days 7, 14 and 18 just before IBW (intensive 'bator watch). My last few hatches were horrible with me getting one chick out of each one and I partially blame my inability to keep my hands off of the eggs. Constant fluctuations in the humidity and temp, in addition to overhandling of the eggs I am sure caused a few to be shrink wrapped in my last hatch. I also just think that in combination with the tempermentality of the Hovabators caused me trouble.

So I did what any reasonable addict would do, I bought a Suro King 20 fully automatic incubator. Most of the eggs are in there with just a few in the Hovabator. Hopefully, that combined with the hands off policy and I'll have fewer late quitters. (Day 12-15).

Candled my eggs today out of 21 four were clear and 3 or 4 that are questionable not bad for eggs that were 2 to 3 weeks old when I set them.
